Finding professional backup software

Hej everybody,

I am posting this because finding a good BackUp-Software is driving me mad. What I would like to do is this: Select a drive, burn its contents to DVD disks, and being able to later boot from those disks to completly restore the former system state. Like the recovery disks that you get along with some of those Dell or Compaq computers.

The main problem I have I don't have enough disk space to store a complete back up and burn it afterwards. It needs to be burned on the fly.

The other problem is that I might not be able to boot my old system anymore and in this case I wouldn't be able to run any backup-software.

Norton Ghost 10 is what I have here, however the installtion isn't working properly: Nothing happens upon clicking the "install"-thingy.

So does anyone know a good backup-software that achieves this?

Norton Ghost 10 is awful. The last decent Ghost was 2003. Try to find that. It helps you create bootable restore disks of any partition(s) you desire and it can create them directly (save your backup on the DVD-R/RW without the HD inbetween)

I used it to move my Windows installation from my previous HD to my current one and I'm 100% pleased.
