Aqua-Soft ForumsI do not know why this happens, but it might be .NET related (which RKlauncher relies upon, in fct if you uninstall it while RKlauncher is running it will ask you to close it first).
RKlauncher is indeed 0.4beta not a nightly build.
I placed a link of the RKlauncher.exe in the automatic start-up folder of the Windows XP start menu so that RKlauncher would be launched each time Windows XP is launched.
This computer is an Acer Aspire 5612wlmi_cd with .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 Frameworks installed and naturally Acer's "empowering technology" applications such as ePower (ePower_DMC.exe is the name of the application on which the ePower program relies on and this suit of applications relies on the .NET 1.1 Framework specifically), eSettings, eDataLock, eRecovery, etc...
Once I rebooted, RKlauncher would start and then other programs such as Acer's ePower would start too.
What I noticed is that ePower_DMC.exe would then consume about 50% of the CPU (so 100% of one of the two cores of the T2300 CPU [intel Core Duo] which is what TaskManager reported). Rebooted, nothing changed... Rebooted without RKlauncher in the Start-up folder and ePower_DMC.exe CPU usage went back to normal (around 0-1%).
Reproduced again the same behavior.
1.) I made Shortcut to RKlauncher.exe (right click on the .exe and selection of the contextual menu voice).
2.) I opened the Start menu, went over the Start-up folder (All Programs) and I opened it: I then moved the shortcut to RKlauncher in the Start-up folder (you could see this had an effect as the next time the PC is rebooted, if you go into Start->Run and type msconfig you can see that a link to RKlauncher is in the list of applications to start at boot-up or really whenever the user logs in, you do not have to reboot to perform this test and reproduce the erroneous behavior).
3.) Logged out and then back in... notice ePower_DMC.exe (maybe in other systems it is some other .NET based application) going to around 50% CPU usage (100% of one of your two cores if you have a dual core CPU).
4.)Either deleting the shortcut from the Start-up folder in the Start menu or doing it from msconfig's GUI, logging out and logging back in would bring ePower_DMC.exe's CPU usage back to its normal CPU usage.
