Weather V0.42

Hi guys,

With me is (just) a dll file that I want you test out. Its not really an "official" release, so you won't find it on my site.

And btw, I moved my site temporarly to a different server with a 1GB bandwith, and on its first day yzdocklets.com already used 977.77MB!

I will have to move the site back to the old one or a new one..

Anyway, Test the following for me:

- The internet connection

- Auto update

- The C/F issue

- and others (if any)

I noticed that when adding the docklet it sometimes hangs the Y'z Dock for some reason, but after adding the second time it works just fine... I am not sure why this is.

Ok...added the docklet with v42.dll, and it did not 'hang/slow' my Dock...hit update and it updated properly to the correct condition & temp...on my laptop...

Wow! I am glad things are working out!

I just uploaded the full version of 0.42 (with the two icon sets, readme file etc...) to www.yzdocklets.com

@theWalrus: if you are still having problems, you can read the xFeatures sections inside the weather_readme.txt file included in the package. It'll explain what you need to do.

Great work,.. but it doesn't update automatically.

Usually I have to click the icon to open the webpage and then middle click the icon.

Rarely does it update when I merely click the middle button without loading the page.

Never has it changed without me touching it.

Yeah, it's still not updating by itself - I restarted the dock to check, even, and it's been about half an hour, I haven't touched it, and it hasn't displayed a temperature, new icon, or new condition (and there is a new condition, I checked it out at Weather.com).

Also important POINT:

When the website weather icon shows n/a (not available), the docklet shows thunderstorm (icon c0).

This is probably because the thunderstorm is the first icon (c0), perhaps c0 should be an icon that says n/a ?

@ dunn bot - yes, I do that, and I don't really mind, but that's not the point - albeik's trying to make it so it auto-updates correctly.

Hmmmm...yesterday, when I first added it to my dock it updated fine...today is a different story, it updated this morning after 3-4 tries...this evening 'no update' at all...

Right now I'm getting "Invalid Unit from Site" message, the icon is blank with a ?...

I even manually went to www.weather.com...to see (sometimes in past versions) it would update this way...No luck...

www.weather.com has a condition posted for my area, and the weather.ini was the exact same as yesterday, no changes have been made...

W/ this version I still need to enter the custom URL as opposed to just the zip code, but the updates seem regular.

When y's dock opens at boot from startup menu, when the weather docklets are in the dock, the docks performance drops 10 fps.

Also sometimes when it doesnt load at startup but you manually start it, this also happens. It is related to the fact that the weather docklets demand an internet connection and automatically try to dial one.

Perhaps you should disable this auto dialing feature.

I would also like to draw you attention to www.weatherunderground.com

perhaps a better, more friendly weather site.

Somethings really screwy with my Yzdock now and I think it's the weather docklet...when my machine started up I got a C++ assertion error on Yzdock - that has NEVER happened before...YzDock has been rock solid since its earliest versions. Anyway, I told the error box to "abort" Yzdock...then I restarted the dock and it started OK. Then, 8 minutes later, I got the same C++ error....and had to abort Yzdock again...and 8 minutes is the time I have set the weather docklet to check for updates. Maybe weather.com is F****d up as far as getting updates automatically and the docklet isn't handling the error well??? Anyway, I removed the docklet for now and we'll see what happens. I think it's weather.com (at least the US site) has changed something and the docklet can't handle it. This docklet has run great for me since V4.0 came out and first it wasn't updating properly and now it's throwing exceptions...the docklet code hasn't changed so I'm assuming it's something outside the docklet that's causing this.

Is anyone else using the US weather.com site seeing any problems???

hmm... I am getting a blank page when I try accessing my location through weather.com (US)... which in turn I am getting an invalid unit from site...

After switching to another Site, I got the same error you did. Hmm.. It's something to do with the weather.com site(s)... 90% of the time the docklet will end up not handling it... hitting "ignore" will keep the dock alive...

Let me try other sites...

hmm... more testing indicates that its due from the blank/messedup page that the docklet recieves from weather.com... (including some of the international sites) I'll keep you guys posted.

I get that aswell, Whenever the Docklet updates (UK) I get a debug box. Then I have to restart Y'z to get the Weather Dock to update again.
