Im so happy! soon I have my hands on a MacBook / MB Pro... But I can't descide!
a MacBook 2ghz 2GBram
or
a MacBook Pro 2ghz 512MBram 128mb ATi.
The MacBook Pro cost more then the MacBook at (above) configuration, but is
it much better whit the 128mb ATi. I work whit photoshop illustrator, indesign, 3D sometimes.
is the 13" to small for photoshop illustrator, indesign?
Pros cons?
Jeez if you have enough money just go for Macbook Pro. You should realize it's a "Winona Ryder or Hale Berry" type of a problem

Pe8er is right...if you've got the money, go for the Pro. Still, Macbook is quite acceptable.

I had the money and I went for the MacBook. In my opinion, it is a better laptop.
Perfect screen size, more durable, better battery life, more beautiful (my opinion), better keyboard (my opinion), just as fast (for what I do, I don't really need a powerful GPU).
The only thing I am missing is the expresscard slot and the backlit keyboard.
Integrated graphics is not as bad as you think (e.g. I can play 1080p without dropping a frame).
I believe the MacBook to be far better than "quite acceptable"

But I don't feel like "if you have the money" go for the Pro, don't get me more in to buying the MBP.
I want to know why I should go for the Pro. if it's just the 3D apps that works better then it's a MBook for sure.
I know that the MBook with 2gbram gonna be a faster machine then the MB Pro, if I don't use real heavy GPU requ.. programs. and I get that for a better price, if I don't buy the momory form apple. 2 gb ram DDR2 667mhz I can get for about 290$ (I don't know why apple take 500$ for it) And I still have more money left in my pocket, then if I buy the Pro. And as dav say MBook is more beautiful, but when I think about it, both of them are far more beautiful then any other notebook on the planet =D

The screen, big diffrent? I know the 1440x900 or 1280x800 is it such a big diffrens? I have a 20" (1680x1050) to connect it to when Im not working mobile.
and the adobe CS is't much faster whit a better GPU or is't the system memory that counts?

I loaded up 3! QT movies on the MBook (Black deafult system) one 1080p two 720p, it was like butter, don't know if I dropped any frames, but cheez on a MacBook... Are you impressed, Im impressed!
Ah, well, I guess it's a matter of opinion. Mine:
Mac Book has better screen size if you're going for portability (what I'd want--the MacBook Pro is pretty darn heavy to be portable).
Can't comment on durability or battery life
MacBook Pro is far more beautiful and has a more standard keyboard, one that I prefer better. It also has the potential to be faster than the MacBook.

Difference is 160x100 px. So you loose 80 px on left/right sides and 50 px on top/bottom. Is that a lot? Not really IMO. I find Macbook's screen to be just right, it's enough for everything I do. Plus I installed this cool VirtueDesktops app which gives me six additional screens. I think that what's most important in laptops is portability - you'd loose a lot of it with MBPro. It's bigger, heavier...ask yourself - do you want to carry arround such a brick in your backpack?

Both of these things count equally. If you have a quick GPU and 256MB RAM - PS gets stuck because it has to use virtual memory and scratch disk a lot. And if you have a slow GPU and like 2GB RAM - PS gets stuck when you use a lot of text, vectors and layer effects.
So it's good to have both of these elements boosted. Remember that in Macbook GPU takes memory from system RAM which means it's a good idea to pack it up with 2GB (~$170). But I can't tell you how Adobe apps behave on Macbook since there are no Intel native versions out yet. We have to wait :$
I have a Macbook Pro and find it is fine for carrying around. In fact, I've seen other people at my school who carry the same laptop without a problem. The size and weight are negligable (at least to me)
The screen size is important to me since this is my main computer. 17" is way too big considering the size of the laptop... I mean, notebook, and 13" is a little small for constant staring. Great for portability, though. I guess I'm just used to having bigger icons on my screen without it feeling crowded.
Also, I really wish Apple would offer a choice of glossy or matte screen fro the Macbook. The glossy screen is nice for making people think they are getting really nice colors out of the box, but it would bug me so much if the glare got in my way. The matte screen should be better calibrated out of the box. Mine was too warm. Not impressed with Apple's QA.
Speaking of QA, the keyboard on the Macbook Pro is horribly random quality-wise. Mine has gaps and tilted keys. The Apple Store said they would replace the whole keyboard under warranty but it should not have to be replaced at all unless it's really defective. The keys are really nice and responsive, though. The backlight is totally unecessary and actually annoying in some medium light situations where it's halfway on (can be turned off manually, but it's still annoying).
I've heard that the Macbook gets hot. Well, from experience (broken record here), the MBP gets very hot. In fact, it's disappointing to me how hot it gets. I tried to brush it off, but I upgraded the RAM and installed all the updates and it still gets uncomfortably warm, especially yesterday, when it was 100 degrees outside and 80 degrees in my home.
Oh yeah, it's not easy to keep this thing clean, either. Also, if you want durability, and not the feeling that any little thing will dent or warp your machine, go with the Macbook.
All in all, I'm pretty torn about this machine. There are really good things and really bad things. I guess it all comes down to the keyboard, express slot, size and video power, really.
Anyone suggest I return my MBP and get a MB or wait and sell this machine later when something better comes along?
What I plan to do with my Macbook Pro:
- Final Cut Studio editing
- DVD development
- Photoshop (already do)
- Illustrator (already do)
- Web development
I'd love to have the choice... But I'd prefer the Mac Book . . .
i have a macbook and showed to a buddy w/ a mbp, he was having so many problems with it he ended up returning it for the macbook in your config... loves it to death...
i try to run photoshop and illustrator on my macbook 1.83, 512 ram and it sucks... takes forever to start, open files, browse photobridge... its awful... need to get 1gb atleast... on my desktop (athlon64 3200+, 1gb) it runs really well... also remember cs2 is not UB, still rosetta, so inherently slower.
imho, the macbook is the best laptop out there right now... i shopped around for comparable specs with the same form factors (size, weight, battery, etc) and the macbook was far superior than the others in the same price point.
lastly, the screen resolution is too small to be working w/ photos. definitely get the adaptor to use your external. You'll love the keyboard and trackpad after about 2 hours of use...

Hi I've just bought a MACBOOK and it's just great. If you prefer portabilty just take the MACBOOK if you don't care about the size and stuff then take a MBP.
Just a comment about heating, my MacBook heats a lot, t's just crazy and quite worrying compare to my old Compag Notebook, well I'll see.

I doubt that. But time will tell.
Update: So far, with the latest software update of 10.4.7, my MBP seems a little cooler. I haven't done intesive work yet, but just surfing aorund and using some low level apps, the wrist rests are cool and even the strip above the F keys seems cooler.
Maybe I'm just imgaining things, though. : P
Also, the Apple store is replacing my keyboard because I don't like some of the keys. It's covered under warranty, even though it's a refubish. Nice.

the macbook keyboard has a better feel to it. to me, it almost makes the pro feel cheap (much how the powerbook did to the ibook)
I'm gonna buy me a Macbook or Macbook Pro at the end of the month, but I'm wondering, which one is better (considered the price) for video-editing? Is the GPU really that big a difference if I take a 2GB RAM Macbook? Please note I should be able to perform multi-cam editing..
Any ideas are really welcome..
Get the Pro. if you're videoediting, you want a) a bigger screen, and 
a dedicated graphics processor to handle live editing.
By now, he probably got what he wanted. Nice bump though.
