Logitech Z-2300 speakers on Macbook

Hi!

I was wondering if you can easily connect the logitech Z-2300 speakers to a Macbook? I read the Macbook has an optical/digital output & input, so if you read this (second paragraph), you can connect the speakers with that optical cable right?

is that tosslink? i started work at apple today, some form of speakers that are optical work with the power mac. I dont know about the mac book, ill enquire
