Alitte Information about FTP
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is an unique way to upload folders/files to your main site etc. FTP required you to have a FTP username and password. In this case, for byethost hosting, you have to create one when you log on to your Cpanel. Then click on FTP accounts and setup one. Any problems occured during the setup, please ask for help on our support section of the board. An example FTP would be: ftp@myaccountname.byethost#.com; replacing ftp as what you have before the "@" and "myaccountname" as your account name and then the "#" for the server number.
Thats just an example. But, if you follow this guidline below, you will surely understand the features of SmartFTP and how to use it properly.

SmartFTP also requires a license. You should buy one, but if you don't want too, you will recieve a "License Reminder" after 30 days. You can always use the FTP given to you in your Cpanel; click webtools and then File Manager, put in your FTP Username and Password.
Enough of the chit-chat, lets begin installing and getting you setup
Steps:
1. After downloading the appopriate download package given to you at the top (before the features), unzip the zip file or if you have, click on Run. If you had a ZIP file, then you must extract it to the desktop. Run the Install file (SFTPMSI.exe). Fill in the correct information, such as where you want to install it should be (C:/Program Files/SmartFTP/) or something similar in this case. You can always change it.
2. After filling out the correct information and installing it, double-click on the SmartFTP icon. After Loading, you should see on the top the address, username and password bars.

Fill in the correct information, so for the "Address" bar, you would put in: ________.com (replacing _______ with your address, replace .com with whatever you use, in this case, I'm using byethost) and with no "www". or ";http://". In the username and password you would place the FTP Username and Password you setup earlier during this guid. Remember to keep the port as "21". Changing it will cause errors
3. After it has loaded and a box has appeared

you can upload the files, simply copy the files you want, and then paste it onto the right box (normally the big one with files; not the left one; thats for navigation). For now, lets call the left box the navigation box. Now, after you've uploaded all the required files, you may be happy with your host. Please remember, if there is a folder called HTDOCS, then only upload there. No where else. If there isn't then go nuts and upload as much as you want until you reach your maximum storage
Please do remember to review this many times as you want if needed.
