I'd have to say Y'z Dock but the latest one 0.4 doesn't seem to handle well(lags) when my computer is under a lot of ram stress when I use photoshop and I got 320mbs of ram. I filled up all my ram earlier today and it kinda started a chain reaction and crash me windows xp
.........ok I did somethin stupid trying to free my ram up I end the task on "Explorer.exe".......I knew better but I couldn't get any new IE windows to open and I already closed down all iexplorer.exe's
With each version I've found that MobyDock and Y'z dock have gotten more nifty and SLOWER. Neither have smooth enough animation to make them remotely tolerable. ObjectDock however works just nicely.
at first Y'z dock never crashed for me. version 4 seems to way too much. then mobydock.. i seem to have had problems with it since the beginning. but objectdock, v.55 hasn't crashed on me yet. so far it's been the most reliable and the most usable. a couple more options and it will be perfect i think.
Yes, Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate it.
I'll be over celebrating my birthday. ![]()
I used at first Y'z Dock, but then I switched to use ObjectDock, it is more functional for me, but it sometimes crahses when i add a command for quitting the application, but the rest is more than ok.
damn, yzdock seems to be so buggy for all of you. It seems it is only PERFECT for ME...
no autohide no objectdock for me, Y'Dock all the way. If ObjectDock implements autohide then it will be time to re-evaluate.
Whatever dock I use primary, they are all an excelent piece of software, EXCELENT JOB GUYS!!
The newest Mobydock is dead sexy, the newes Y'z dock is still easiest in memory, and Objectdock is still ugly, and a memory hog, IMO.
I switch between moby and y'z, depending on which of my system's I'm using.
You did not have the real dock as an option. ![]()

On my PC at home, I use Yzdock 0.4 and Mobydock and at work I use ObjectDock 0.55 but at home I usually use the real dock. ![]()
Well...The Y'z Dock is absolutely magnificent...especially 0.4 with bouncing icons.....and it runs super-silky smooth on my computer...I can't understand why people say Y'z Dock is buggy...it hasn't crashed even once for me (I even tried running 4 Y'z Docks simultaneously, one on each side of the screen and it still ran perfectly....try doing that with the MobyDock or ObjectDock
)
Well Y'z Dock gets my vote and I can't wait for 0.5 ![]()

yep I difinately favor Y'z Dock 0.4 even though my comp crashed but I think that was directly related to me having photoshop open and my windows manager saying I am using more ram than I actually have o0
I have used all the docks and each one was my favorite. As time went by Y's dock showed a significant performance speed in my computer over Mobydock, but Mobydock had more features. Mobydock never did run too slow on my computer but just that the other 2 docks showed faster performance. Y's dock became the primary dock based on 3 factors:
1. Ability to put more icons on the dock
2. Easier to configure
3. Speed
Then came Objectdock and not being a big fan of Stardock, I was a little hesitant to try it, but it turns out to be just as quick as Y's dock, with more implemented features, same or more icons can be placed and an easy way to configure.
There are features that are still not implemented on any of the docks and a speed bump plus better ability to accomodate icons would give Mobydock a good chance to be on top. There are features that Mobydock has that Y's or Objecdock do not and that goes to the credit of Moby.
As of now I find Objectdock to be my default dock and it is a breath of fresh air when compared to DesktopX. The Stardock app. DesktopX is very configurable but not friendly and simple to implement as Objectdock. Thanks Jeff for a very promising app. . ![]()
I'm still using Y'z dock. Yes, I have used new object dock. Both have very promising feature. The reason I'm still using Y'z dock is that, it uses less memory and Y'z dock is somewhat less buggy.
I understand O.D is alpha state and Y'z is beta stage, and I guess the both docks will be much better in near future.
Keep up the good work guys. I enjoy every moment of touching that wonderful PNG icons magnifying
I actually use all 3, I have Mobey on my work PC, Y'z on my home desktop and ObjectDock on my laptop. Of the 3 I'd have to agree with the majority view that OD is the better dock at present and the fastest/easiest to configure. I like having all 3 running so I can keep on top of what's happening with them all.
Great work from all. Sure makes a wonderful change from DesktopX and all those zoomers we were using not very long ago! ![]()
I think OD is probably the best, but it lacks transparancy & auto-hide so I'm gonna continue to use Y'z for a while, until OD adopts these.
OK!
I think we need to close this poll and thread until the next update or two from all 3 docks. This gives a sense already how the docks compare in usage and which needs more improvement.
By closing the thread and poll we allow each author some reasonable time to move forward with improvements. If we allow this thread to continue one will update while another dock is not ready yet for an update making the poll less accurate.

i like object desktop alot, but i dont wanna waste time re setting up all my stuff, so yz dock for me@
anyway my first post lol =]
ObjectDock because its the most functional and runs very smooth and I am also very pleased with its customization abilities. Thank you Jef ![]()
same for me, Objectdock is definetely my favourite dock. First used mobydock a lot, which is also ok, but a little instable on my system. I can't run Y'zs dock since it's XP only, so OD it is....
Y'z dock all the way. I can't understand why some people are having problems with it, it works perfect for me.
