File won't play in iTunes but plays in WMP

Why is that happening? They're MP3s as well.

They don't work in iTunes, or they don't open in iTunes?

Both. If I double-click it from the folder it's in, nothing will play. If I goto iTunes and goto ADD FOLDER it won't add the files. But yet WMP opens and plays the files with no problems.

yes, i'm interested in this as well. i have a couple of folders where most of the songs will get added, but there's just a couple of songs that just will not add to itunes.

Just checking back for any new info.

try renaming your itunes library files and re add your folders. that worked here at work. haven't tried it at home.

Library files?

Remove Media Player, Yeah ! . . .

Reinstall iTunes, change the program by default for media files ? . . .

I'm not sure at all if it will work.

I don't see how reinstalling would help. It's already set as my default player. It's obviously something with the MP3s for some reason. They worked before and I copied them to an MP3 disc and the other day I was copying all the files back to my PC b/c I lost them. Every other MP3 copied and played fine.

One "odd" thing though was when I was tagging the files they would change even if I saved them. So I had to completely remove the tag and type in all back in. I use TagScanner btw for tagging.

Maybe this'll shed some light.

i'm on my vista box right now. i don't have itunes installed, so i can't give you the path. but...there's an itunes.xml and an itunes.itl file. they're both in the same folder. try renaming those.

WHEW! I thought I lost all my playlists and everything. It didn't work. When I renamed the files and opened iTunes everything was gone and it still wouldn't let me add the particular tracks.

#400140

try converting the MP3 files to WAV or something else, and then back to MP3.

SUPER can do it pretty fast, http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

I suppose I'm the only one who memorizes those :slant: :P.

I appreciate the advice but it's not really worth it IMO. I mean it's only ONE album that won't work. If I have to spend the time converting back and forth and again it's really not that big of a deal. I was just curious as to why an album that worked before doesn't work now. Thanks for all the advice and such. I have the album on CD as it is. I can deal without it on my PC. Thanks again and again.

DRMed files maybe?

Well I went ahead and installed the newest version and it still didn't help.

Check your CD case and look for the Copy Protected CD logo (posted below). Often times the CD will have a list of PC Reqirements on it. Second, did you rip the CD with Itunes?

No logo on it but it does have PC requirements for the video on it. It's an "older" CD. Back from '02. And I believe I may have ripped it with Winamp. I guess I can try to rip it again but I'm still just curious as to why it doesn't work with iTunes.

iTunes may not like the compression that was used when it was ripped from Winamp.

I have one Scorpions tune that will not play or load in iTunes at all.

I've ripped it nearly 50 times already trying to keep the MP3 format using every tool I could get my hands on... nothing.

I put the CD in and re-ripped straight from iTunes into MP4 format and it works perfectly.

Download foobar and load the mp3. Right click on the file and choose "Fix MP3 header".

Not sure if this feature is in the latest version but it's in 0.8.3.
