I contacted someone who works for alienware who are now owned by dell and they told me that viewsonic made there monitors for them, whether thats true or not.

My company buys Dell PCs and laptops in bulk... we're talking hundreds at a time.

We have Dell repair guys onsite in their own workshop.

The info I got from them is that it all depends on the model.

Take the 1907FP for example... half the panels were made by Samsung and half were made by Phillips/LG.

The 1907FP I use at my desk has a Samsung panel in it as it was from an ealier run.

All the newer ones (mid 2006 or newer) use Phillips/LG panels.

The E207WFP and E228WFP use ViewSonic panels.

Dell has no dedicated supplier for the panels. They farm it out to the lowest bidder.

You have to look at the firmware info or date of manufacture to figure out the vendor.

Dell makes all the cases and does the final assembly.
