Aqua-Soft ForumsI use a program called TAGSCANNER to tag all my MP3s. I was wondering why doesn't iTunes update what I've tagged the file with? Is there a way that I don't have to go thru each song and edit the info myself?

It does update it once you play the song... But you do have to play the songs you modified with your tag editor.
I can't confirm this because I am using a newer version of iTunes on a Mac, but when I was on Windows, using an older version (4.0-ish), I remember that there was an option on the Preferences (or whatever they called them on Windows) to update ID3 tags. I think it was unchecked by default, but I am not sure. Maybe look through there to see if this is what's happening. I never noticed what styrizo said happening, but that could be a possibility, too, I suppose.
i see what styrizo mentioned but only when ive added new music... sometimes it would only show the filename and once it was selected to be played it would switch to id3 tag... my guess was always that it was looking at one of the two types of tag, 1 or 2.
ive also come across mp3s (not exactly legally) that wouldnt allow me to add/modify tags for the files... really weird and extremely frustrating...
my newest quam w/ itunes (for windows) is that when you manage your ipod library manually, having the option selected, its not sending my album art... so now on my ipod, half my library has artwork, other half doesnt... pissed me off BIG TIME
Seems like neither thing worked. I'll try more in depth later.
If you don't care about play count, ratings etc, you can reimport them to iTunes and the library will use the info from the mp3 tags
As for not being able to set album art, check the following:
the mp3 file is read-only
the filename of the picture you want to use as album art does not contain weird characters (I had to rename pictures with greek filenames)
