Although the widgetdock will not be released by me, avedesk will have a fully featured API to easily create a widgetdock with effects.

Add a desklet
Non-blocking, fast add-a-desklet: all desklets will be shown in one linear list with previews. The list is quickly searchable with a find-as-you-type-search.
Desklets can be grouped into multiple categories, like AveScripter desklets, SysStats desklets, but also Weather desklets, RSS desklets, Note desklets, etc.
The architecture supports so-called on line desklets feeds, which would allow a user to browse a list of not-yet-installed desklets, drag a desklet to the desktop like a regular desklet and have it installed and instantiated. Not yet implemtented tho.

ClipBoard Viewer Desklet
One of the new desklets for 2.0 being worked on; this desklet will allow the user to view what's on the clipboard and give an option to keep a history as well. Clipboard entries will give a nice preview, plus will support drag-'n-drop.
The desklet will feature lots of small, but nice effects, plus have a nice and clean design.
Voice Recordier Desklet
With this desklet, one is able to record small voiceclips and hear them back later or upload them (with the help of the FTP desklet).
