Aqua-Soft Forums....Is there a way to use nexplorer as the default explorer with out .. actually opening the "Nexplorer" Program.....Do you go to the registry or something towards that nature... I'm new to the transforming of xp to mac.....and to this website........

you could edit the win.ini and replace explorer.exe with the location of the nexplorer program.. but i wouldn't recommend it.
why would you want to do this?
when i go to my computer .. it still has the look of windows even though i have flyakite....... the only way it look like a mac is if i open the nexplorer program
So use nexplorer instead of windows explorer?
i dont know if you've fully used nexplorer before, but it's definately not stable enough to run as a windows shell-

stick with explorer, and use styler-
otherwise you can search through various shells and find one that suits you.

I was thinking, could somebody just get explorer.exe, and remove everything except what's needed, ie. it will just be able to have the system tray running so you can switch applications with OB/Dock/Alt-Tab replacement etc.
Then the only problem left would be getting NeXplorer or your finder clone to open folders (ie. in a link, etc. like if you have downloaded something and you open teh containg folder, it should open that folder with NeXplorer, not windows explorer)
Could anybody try this?
Eh, I don't think you could alter explorer.exe like that because that would involve editing the source code, which is illegal for everyone but rjohnstone to have (

We already know how to get NeXplorer to open folders, but it's been posted before. It involves editing a few registry keys, or just changing the corresponding options in Folder Options. If you're still interested, I can do some searching later on...

Nexplorer is very lowly & the other clones of finder too. I need "speed" and the default explorer.exe is the best version of "Finder"

Sucks that NeXplorer development has gone... it's the best out there.
none of them are.. when one stops development, another one starts up promising to be better than the last, and then the cycle continues.
Is a shame. Must we resign to use explorer? I think yes... at least for now. I don't know how could NeXplorer development be abandoned. Amazing, near to be the perfect finder clone... a real shame.
NC - Is it actually possible to make NeXplorer to open folders (like if it's a link, or in an app where I right click and chose open containing folder)

Ok, I found out how to do it, and this doesn't require doing anything in your registry.
Open any folder in windows explorer and from the menu choose: Tools > Folder Options > File Types.
Select folder and press advanced. and add a new action. Call it "Show in Finder" or something that you would liek to see when you open a folder. For teh application just select nexplorer.exe
If you want you can set "Show in Finder" as the default.
Now do teh same for File Folder, disk, etc.
