I propose we here at Aqua-Soft "elect" a new team of administration - all the current mods and admins stay of course (they're doign a pretty decent job for now), but I propose we elect new members for the front page (which is 6 feet under), and maybe think of some other positions for people to take...
So - whatcha guys think - just seems A-S is dying by the day...

What I'm proposing is to elect a new team of people to actually post news on the front page; obviously its not the design which isnt allowing the staff to post news; seems like most of those who used to post news just left, and new people didnt replace em...
Honestly, 90% of the staff we had for news posting would post one or two times and thats it. Now don't get me wrong we had a few ace posters. But getting 1 news post a week was too much to ask I guess. Community here is too weak, no one really contributes much to the site itself. We'll worry about the main page once unbe and myself figure out what we're doing with it. He's currently mocking up some sort of design for it then we'll go from there.
Aqua-Soft isn't dieing either, our traffic has increased greatly over the past few months, even without a main page.

If you're gonna apply for news posting, and we bring you guys aboard and you don't post news. We'll ban you from the site for wasting our time. I know people have lives, but so do we, and we get sick of people saying they'll help and then end up doing jack crap.

aquasoft is good dont get me wrong, but when it dies let it rest in peace.

I just joined this month, about a week ago actually, and I love this place.
and it better not die until i can atleast use an avatar 
as far as news posters and stuff, I spend alot of my day online ( my job is amazing ) and have a few good resources, once everything gets going i'd be interested in contributing, and if i dont i'll let you ban me

Right now we have enough to keep us at a point where we don't bother for more. There are not many groundbreaking news, everything that could be discovered has already been discovered and we can all go back to our Aquafied PCs (or to our Macs for those who performed the leap of faith and switched).
Thank god, whenever such a pessimist brings tears to everyone's eyes, something or someone comes up with something new. But it will be for AquaSoft to decide what it's going to be in the future: "everything Aqua"? a skinner's playground? an Apple news site? an OSX on PCs hacker's place?
I vote for skinnner's playground! - also what I'd like to see more OS X skinning here... that is to say skins/themes for the real thing, rather then just ports to windows...
Will remain Aqua oriented or whatever Apple does next.

Creating new "News Posters" and what not is a stupid idea. They have done this times before and they will post 1 or 2 times a week for about a couple of weeks and then stop. There is no point in getting new "News Posters" for the fact that this will happen time and time again.
Now for a solution. Timan, couldnt we have a forum for "Front Page News", or something along the lines of that. If someone has a newspost they would like to contribute to the community, they would simply post it in that category. Then it would be up to the discretion of the Admin's or Mod's to put it up on the front page or not. Simple. I think most people want to sign up for News Posters so they get "privileges" or they just think they are so better then everyone else because they have a group icon that says "News Posters". Guess what, your nothing special if you dont do the job that you applied for. It would be good if there wasnt even a group for News Posters. You have news to share with the Aqua-Soft Community? Great, go post it in the thread, more power to ya. You dont get any special group, or anything. Besides the knowing that you contributed to the community.
The problem with that is that the staff has to go out of their way to take the post contents and move them over to the front page (which runs on an unrelated PHP CMS.)
AquaCurve, things with newsposters weren't like that in the past so please do not make unsubstantiated assumptions. There were (and are) good people willing to do the job well, we just need to find them.
Sorry Unbliever. I was talking about the majority of the News Posters we have at this current time, when I came to this site there was news postings everyday that I could see. I was talking about from the point where it all stopped, I should of made that clear instead of making unsubstantiated assumptions of the past. Yes, there are good people willing to do the job, it is just a matter of finding them.
It's always a hard job, no matter how dedicated you think you can be. I don't know exactly what it is--it's not like the flow of news is so great that we don't have enough people to write about it. Just not sure...
