Welcome to Canada, Ricky?

For those of you who have no clue as to what is going on, Ricky Williams was suspended for a year from the NFL because of drug use. Currently, the CFL has no such drug policy, so recreational use of drugs is ok. Anyways, Toronto will still suck because we have a ****ty defensive line. :P

But... Ricky Williams can get tested up to ten times a month for the NFL's drug policy...

I'm not sure which direction I should take this thread so:

1. I don't know what's up with Ricky. I thought he didn't like football anymore, then he wanted to come back because he got a renewed interest in the game.

2. The ideals in Canada are different than U.S. on drug policy. We can't discuss this further on these boards.

3. I am a big fan of the NFL, I can talk a lot about it.

4. Don't know anything about CFL.

@ wizard:

1) It's debatable whether Ricky has a renewed interest in football, or he just needs a way to pay off the 8 million dollars that he owes to the Dolphins

2) regardless, Ricky is still subject to NFL drug policy as long as he wants to play in the NFL in the future

3) Oh yeah

4) Does anyone outside of Canada?

...

4) Does anyone outside of Canada?

Neither do most of us in Canada. :P

That's what I was trying to hint at.

2) regardless, Ricky is still subject to NFL drug policy as long as he wants to play in the NFL in the future
Saw that on SportsCenter this morning. Sucks for him. But I didn't know which direction the original poster wants this thread to go. It seems pretty weird to have a thread specifically talking about Ricky Williams heading to the CFL out of nowhere.

I think that drugs in sports is horrible. It dosent matter where ricky goes. He'll still be stupid, and i feel bad for the team that has to deal with him.

The odd thing about this current suspension is that we don't know what Williams tested positive for. I find it really hard to believe that Williams would be conscious that he needs to repay his $8 million debt to the Dolphins, plus whatever other payments he owes (child support, for starters), and would then decide to get high again. He might be an idiot, but he's not South Park's Towelie.

I'm almost tempted to buy his agent's explanation that he took an herb (not "the herb") as part of his holistic diet, and that's what caused his drug test to come back positive.

edmonton sucks!

:o Edmonton owns!!! We're in the Stanley Cup finals!!!!!

Didn't we win the Grey Cup 13 times?

@ Desides: A drug addiction (if that is what Ricky has) is just that, an addiction. Those under the influence of addiction usually do not think rationally about their actions to get the drug, they have a physical and or mental addiction to the drug. It's easy for us to say that there's no way that Ricky would use drugs if they would prevent him from getting out of debt, but there are literally millions of examples that would prove this logic wrong.

@Ertai88: wha?

#392866

"Wha?" What?

#392872

Oh nothing... just poking a little fun at the Grey Cup :)

Speaking of drugs...

How about that Barry Bonds.?
