dashboard effect

my friend runs mac osx 10.4.4 and i pointed out how when he drops a widget there should be a ripple effect under it, which doesnt happen

would there be any reason why, does it have to be enabled or something?

He/She Probably doesn't have QE/CI enabled. Tell him/her to check in System Profiler.

Well, that may answer your question. Not fast enough, and doens't have qe/ci enabled, which runs the ripple effect. Some video proccessing thing, is what qe/ci is, I think. How old do you say, any more information you can give us? What type of Mac?

Of course, the newer models, which are not yet listed here, have support from Core-Image. If the graphics chip you have is not here, especially a lower model number, it doesn't support it.

It's not about how powerful the graphics card is, but it's about whether the graphics card supports pixel shading.
