well there is an open source dock for linux so far.. its pretty good actually the magnification is just right!

if you search more other people took the source code and made little forks of it like bug fixes.. tiny other features ect ect

Looks like quite a good program Bolero. Could anyone who has Linux tell us how good it is? 
It sucks. No real transparency and really buggy. But hey, it was only released like 3 weeks ago. It took the win docks years.
yea no real transparency but... im sure someone brave enough can rip it apart and modify it for windows to use windows transp[arency etc etc

btw, "they" "think different"; we shoud too, but in another direction. but before starting a new project, make sure u guys are 100% safe. not that our "friends" come in a few years with a friendly letter.

i think there are no transparency on KSmoothDock because there's only 24bit support for icons on Linux. am i right?
I think you guys cannot start to think about a open source dock using the existent ones if the actual authors (at least Moby and Mr. Yamaguchi) doesn't have shown any intention to release their respective codes.
Please remember that they're owners of his code and you shouldn't start to push. After all, we don't even know if the sad issue with Apple is true or if they will be able to keep ahead with their respective projects.
Personally, I wouldn't like to see people talking about my project when the things still so unclear.
Just my two cents.
