Hey,
I just bought this new laptop and for some reason itunes is
really quiet on it. All other apps play audio verry nicely but
in itunes its quieter and the bass sound absolutely awfull.
Any ideas?

P.S.
It has an optical sound card, maybe that has something
to do with it. I downloaded all the latest drivers but it
didnt make any difference.
what other apps did you try to play music?
You could try running the audio with Foobar Passthrough. It's much better quality than iTunes anyway.
Well I tried VLC and WMP and also Winamp, and they all work fine, but the problem is
that I have a reallly large itunes music library and I cant really move them all to another app...
best bet would be use multiplugin w/ foobar passthrough like Sid mentioned. Remember to install foobar and make all audio modifications w/ its tools. That would be a good bet for tiny speakers b/c of the limiting/compression plugins.
I think it could be problem with your QuickTime installation !!
Try playing any Mp3 in QuickTime player and see if it behaves the same, if yes try following :
* Go to Control Panel > QuickTime > Audio Tab.
* Check Safe Mode (WaveOut only)
Also try using following settings in Box below it
Rate : 44.1 or 48 KHz
Size : 16 Bit
Channels : Stereo (L,R)
See if it works !!!
On other note, I would also go with Sid about using Foobar PassThrough for iTunes using Multi-Plugin. It gives far superior audio output.
Nope that doesnt help, I also tried to do the foobar thing but when I click the foobar passthrough
option in multiplugin it gives me an error saying that foobar is not installed, and it is....
Actually for some reason I thought other apps worked ok, but now I just tried it again and really
the only app that plays audio really loudly is VLC. Could it be that my sound card just cant play
any louder? 
For Foobar passthrough to work you need Foobar 0.8 version.. cause the latest 0.9 doesn't work with Multi-Plugin. I guess that's the reason why you got error "Not Installed" !

well, if it's just itunes, you should uninstall/reinstall it. don't worry, it'll keep your playlists intact.
did u try connecting external speakers to your laptop?
also, you may want to try disabling spdif in audio properties... I have had issues w/ on board sound before especially w/ the audio out (headphone) out... usually spdif converts the same mini-jack output to a digital output, so you card may just be confused.
Maybe this is too obvious, but delete and reinstall the sound drivers for your mobo?
Yeah I've tried all of those things (except the external speakers cause I
don't have any) but nothing worked It seems that my soundcard just
can't play any louder, is this possible? If so is there a way I can make it
louder? 
since you said you have optical out...
good solution: purchase an external speaker set... i have this set ... i only use it as 2.1 but it was cheaper to buy the 5.1 set and had better specs than the 2.1. Anyhow... it sounds better than i expected a 50$ set to sound... its incredibly too bass strong tho... better too strong than too weak...
far better solution: purchase a receiver or two channel amp (if you can find an affordable one) w/ digital optical input (they will all have atleast one now adays)... find some affordable bookshelf speaker that you like and have a listen at a store... try out etronics.com... you get what you pay for, i suggest yamaha receivers and jbl or polk bookshelf speakers. Bose is for queens who love to sing along in the high register... stay away. just my opinion... take it for what its worth...
how does this passthrough thing wrk?
You use Mplugin (stickied in this forum), and it's one of the options. You need Foobar .8.3.
