Possible to use an iMac as a monitor for a PC?

The thread actually says a lot, but I'll tell some more.

In my town there are a lot of people that selling their iMacs, (the one's with the CRT monitors with hardwarde inside them) for not so much money (say, €5,-).

I was just wondering, if I got my hands on one of them, could it be possible to connect them to my windows PC?

Well.. technically it can't be used directly as a monitor... but you could use VNC to remote control the PC.

Why in the world would you use the monitor for pc and not as mac if you can get them so cheap? I'd love to get an iMac for my desktop. But all I have is an iBook. Should hook me up with one

i'm sure that because it's a proprietary mobo, it's just a flex cable going right to the lcd. if i were you, i'd pry open the case and verify that. then, you'll need some 26 awg wire, a dvi kvm, a soldering gun, a drill, tin snips, needlenose pliers , an ohmmeter, a logic probe and a magnifying glass. you'll need to desolder the flex cable from the mobo and the lcd. then, take apart the kvm. but be careful - you're gonna need those parts! drill some pilot holes in the back of the imac case. then use the tin snips to make holes for the switch and dvi connector. then, take the internals of the kvm and solder the common to the mobo. desolder one of the connectors. using the 26awg wire, solder from the now desoldered side of the kvm to the lcd. this is where you'll need the ohmmeter. oh, and you'll probably need a schematic. that's really about it. mount the switch and the connector on the back of the case, close it up, and rock out!!

Yeah, but it's not LCD. It's Crt.

And really, once I got money, I'll buy me a real Mac.

On top of that, I actually don't have one yet. Not even one to mess around with.
