Software for "emulating" higher screen resolutions

Hey,

I have a laptop with a 15" screen but it can only do 1024x768, Is there

a piece of software you can use to "emulate" a higher resolution? (To display

stuff smaller on the screen without phisically changing the number of

displayed pixels).

Thanks,

Gabriel :)

:-I

Why would anyone want to do that? You'd just get crappier graphics :slant:

unbe is right, i put a 640*360 movie on my ipod and most of the shots in the distance are blocks of 4 pixels unless i hook it up to the tv

(display res for ipod is 320*240)

slightly OT, but it's rumored that 10.5 will have "resolution independence"

I spent a lot of my time trying to do this on linux a while ago, and yeah as unbe said it looks like cr*p, but then again you could look for a windowblinds theme with smaller fonts/taskbar, or maybe just doing it yourself with skinstudio... hope it helps

There is a registry key that allows you to do this in Windows, but I can't seem to find it. I'll look around for it though.
