Out of curiosity, would any pay the subscription price? And who do you prefer iTunes or Microsoft products?
I know which I prefer, and it isnt Microsoft :-D

I personally prefer Apple products and iTunes instead of Microsoft products and their preposterous applications.
I feel they actually have a good chance of toppling Apple's dominace of the digital music market.
MS is vast resources at it's fingertips and a huge install base to start with, and MTV is also huge.
If I were MS, I'd produce a high quality PAD (Personal Audio Device) under the MTV banner at a great price -- even taking a loss on it if necessary, and market it hard.
In 2 - 3 years I'm sure MS/MTV could capture at least 50% of the market using this plan.
Many have tried to make an iPod killer but after years of "threats" none has come even close. The only one who can kill Apple's dominance is Apple itself.
Also MTV is "huge" only if you listen to crap, manufactured "stars" 
(Disclaimer: there are a few worthy exceptions but the rule still stands)
I agree with Norodha on this. Like it or not, Microsoft has a large install base in the PC environment and they can possibly extend this feature to its mobile devices (such as Windows Mobile) as well. Furthermore, WMP will be installed by default on Windows computers whereas iTunes still requires a separate download, which may make WMP more attractive to those who aren't familiar with software installation or think it's a hassle.
yup unbeliever is right, who watches MTV anyways they dont even show music videos anymore. Personally i perfer VH1 and BET instead. People will continue to threaten apple and will always try to dethrown them but the fact of the matter is that apples so high in the air right now nobody can touch them. people are finally realizing the convinence of there products and the quality of there company. microsoft can try w/e they want, just because there a billion dollar company with unlimited resources dosnt mean they'll just automatically win.
yeah, but if you believe apple can't lose it's #1 position in the ipod/itunes market, then you have to also believe that ms can't lose it's #1 position in the os/office market. but, if you think back a few years, netscape was the 400 pound gorilla of internet browsers. rio was the mp3 player of choice.
true i never said that it was impossible to topple apples #1 position, its just that so many have tried and failed, so what microsoft so special? i know they got deep pockets and all that but still, i think even they'll have a hard time beating apples ipod/itunes combo. microsoft isnt known for there convinence at all and when it comes to convinence apple beats them at that. i also believe itll be hard for apple to topple microsofts position in the os market, afterall more then 90% of computers are running on windows.

i don't know that i agree on that point completely. the convenience is there, IF you have an ipod. whereas on windows, you have a wide range of players that can sync with wmp. (hell, not even sync really. drag and drop what you like is more like it). in the end, apple is convenient, but you're locked into apple hardware.

shouldnt be a problem for individuals who loves all apple products im sure future itunes versions will allow us to use it with other players, i can see apple doing that but business wise it would be a bad idea, espically since if they want to keep ipods and itunes at #1.

Personally, I wouldn't support it. Just for the sake of it being done by M$.
As far as general support, it probably would do well. The masses would buy into it just because it is Microsoft (how many other programs out there are better and much cheaper than Office, yet people dish out $400 for every release?).

I say iTUNES.. everyone today wants an ipod... and u cant have an ipod without itunes... and even if u dont have an ipod iTunes is what hot now........Im sorry but im going with Itunes

Well, you learn something new every day. WMP will not sync with an iPod? Is there any logical reason for it not doing so?
I use WMP for a lot, but I like using iTunes. It seems that CDDB has more depth than WMP's.

It's just not built with it. There are programs that can, I think I used ephPod (something like that) when I was on Windows before iTunes was released. I think there is a plug-in for other apps that can talk to the iPod database, but either way, WMP is NOT better than iTunes. Yes, there are some arguably that are, but WMP is not one of those.

I agree... WMP is not better than iTunes, although I hate iTunes playlist functions... it can be a real PITA sometimes.
WMP was also originaly not intended to be a store front like iTunes is either.
But in typical fashion, M$ will throw tons of cash at whatever they do and probably buy a small company or two in the process as well.
Remember their moto, If they can't make it in house, they will just buy the company that can.
I agree with k johnson. If MS can make a good music browser compatable with iPod, it would be succesful, seing as many music downloaders are teen with PC's, but the only question is, can microsoft make a good music browser?
sure, it'd be great if the ipod was open architecture, but, it's not. i don't think apple's ever gonna open up the ipod. ipod=itunes. period. (except for 3rd party stuff. but that stuff is unofficial, so they don't count).
