Specifiically his system movies and download links...i want to put up something similar on my desktop. I have downloaded AveDesk 1.2 and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to makes these. The only ave desk widget i have been abe to use is the i tunes desklet. Any help would be great as i have been searching the forums and internet for hours.

What exactly is it you need help with? Which desklets did Steve release? :)

i guess what i'm really asking for is how did steve make the desklets he shows on this page

http://www.wincustomize.com/Preview.aspx?S...ier/wb/4881.jpg

Specifically the three in the top right corner (systems, movies and downloads).

In steve's "How to make Windows look like a mac" article

(Located Here: http://stevegrenier.wincustomize.com/artic...6871&UID=644651)

He said he used avedesk to make them. I just can't figure out how to make them.

Basically all i want is three icons to keep records of my hardrives on my desktop so i don't have to use my compter so much (But i woud also want them to open to their specific locations).

your links are fubar'd

#389851

Do those work?

#389853

Those are (most probably) pidl shortcuts pointing to his other drives and renamed- perhaps like this: C: = System, D: = Movies and E: = Downloads.

#389870

Yeah, use AveDesk with the included PidlShortcut desklet. Play around with the configuration and the sublabels.

How does one 'point' to the drives. Everytime i try to make a Pidlshortcut the only two i can make are a trash icon or a my computer icon. And how did he get that pretty label next to each of his shortcuts?

Is There a tutorial that would give me specific instructions to do this so i wouldn't have to bother everyone?

#389998

you have to get different codes, eg. shell: my pictures

does any1 know the codes for local disc??

#390041

you dont really need to memorize codes for shortcuts except for trash and my computer, because the rest you can simply click browse, go to the browser you want the shortcut to point to, and click ok :) Or you can simply copy the address

#390078

i cant do it for local disc, cause it opens the local disc and shows the folders instead of just browsing the actual local disc

any help??

#390083

TheEnvyProjekt, can't you just type in C:, or the drive? Instead of browsing...

If you want another My Computer shortcut, you can use shell:driveFolder.

yes thanks for the help...i felt like an idiot after i got it to work. Is there anyway to have refreshing icons on your desk? for example to show the change in drive size after you have deleted a sizeable amount of files.

I think the stats automatically refreshes itself after a while, not sure how long, but will definitely change itself after a restart :)
