Macbook photos

I ran to the Apple Store last night and picked up my new macbook...

Timan asked for photos, so here are a few. Ya, a couple on my desk, a couple on my bed. If you are curious and want other views, let me know... the quality sucks as I was rushing...

If only I knew how to use it...

Pretty nice, I must say. What are your thoughts on the screen? Do the viewing angles still suck? My old iBook had the worst possible screen a laptop could have.

#389549

Looks awesome. How do you find the 13"?? Is is not too small?

#389561

honestly guys... this screen is really really nice... far superior than my old 17" dell 8100. The glossiness does attract glares but i had it out in my truck today and opened it up to see what it looked like in the sun and i was pretty impressed... wasnt washed out, could read on white background, and colors were vibrant. I plan to carry it to the pool deck and try it out there as well when i get home from work at a reasonable hour.

Yea, the resolution isnt great, but its a small screen. I am weary of the fact that doing photo work will be kinda weird since it will take up so much realestate, but i bought it knowing that I wouldnt be doing too much other than browsing, emailing, school work (if i ever get my act together and go back), etc. I still have my desktop and/or my external 17" lcd...the integrated video card is limiting but the dvi out supports a rediculously high resolution so im not worried about that.

What do you think about the keyboard?

#389616

hey... well im a first time mac user, but I like it alot... I brought it to work today so some old time fanatics could check it out and all have been pleasantly surprised. One guy, had bought a refurb MBP which he was having the typical problems with so he returned it. Monday he got a new one... more problems, many being more severe than his original. After checking out mine he says he's returning his pro and gettin this one. another guy had an ibook and powermac and said the screen is much much brighter, more crisp, and the keyboard is not nearly as "spongy" as the older. He seemed to really like it and in its basic config said it was much snappier on app load and that the screen was really nice...

#389735

all right, thank's. it looks very nice :)

#389744

Rly nice I have planned to buy this computer for months and months now but I do hesitate because I don't know if my school's software (DASSAULT CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, ABAQUS, MATHS LAB...) will work on Boot Camp. But your pics make me sooo jealous, I want a MAC like yours !!!

Just enjoy it rly much !!!

#389748

you will probably have issues w/ solidworks, simply because of the shared video (64mb)... but CATIA, and MatLab or MathCAD etc will be fine... dont know about ABAQUS...

you can get ahold of solidworks and ask tho...

#389750

Yes I hope so, and I do agree for solidworks (and thus CATIA which needs even more ressource than Solidworks) but I would still have my WIndow PCs for that stuff...

I hope I'll get it soon and I will make pics as you !!!!

If you get tired of your mac (which is IMPOSSIBLE lol) just send it to me thks dude ;)

#389753

the other thought I had about using one machine for all you design work... the new (well not new but not autocad) apps such as pro/e and solidworks create a new file for every revision file you make... so with every save, comes another file. therefore you want to put the app and its directories on their own partition and in a place where you wont be modifying the structure and heirarchy (sp)... the file dependencies require not changing a file outside of the options w/in the tool... and you dont want to overload your common directories with all these files!

btw... i aint gettin tired of this thing anytime soon... but stick w/ design and soon enough you will have "big boy" paychecks which allow for a little dispensible income...

I also got a MacBook and I absolutely love it. The screen isn't as bad as people are saying and it's nice and fast. I've got some pics on Flickr if you wanna take a look:

I actually don't live in Florida, we just visited on spring break. A relative has a house on Merritt Island.

for those interested... i had my macbook at 100% battery and watched the Weatherman on DVD... 101 minute film + previews and such.... so in all right at about 2 hours long. At eject, the battery was at 46%... Apple predicted a battery life of 2.5 hours while playing a DVD. Pretty impressive...

Pretty nice, I must say. What are your thoughts on the screen? Do the viewing angles still suck? My old iBook had the worst possible screen a laptop could have.

Macbook (not pro) used to come with two screen types; glossy and normal (?) ... unfortunately they only offer glossy now.

glossy looks fantastic crystall clear from the front on, but move to the side and it looks a little dodgy with glare.

Normal is still used on the Macbook pro, and has a wider viewing angle, but isn't as smooth looking from front on. Hope that helps...

both screen types are still quite good, better than most other laptop lcd screens i've seen in terms of viewing angle.
