Windows Login Changed

Well, I've read way too much about modifying msgina.dll to change the login but didn't see anyone's evidence of ever having successfully changed it. I am proud to say, here is my custom login for Windows XP!

I have to admit, this is not for the faint of heart! I used ResourceHacker and a whole lot of patience (15 trial-and-error attempts) to get it to this point. One time I wasn't sure I'd even be able to recover from the mistake of putting the wrong path in the registry! I hope you enjoy and try it on your machine. Disclaimer: I assume NO responsibility for what may happen to your machine, modifying resources and the registry is a high-risk activity that may make your computer inoperable! Try this only at your own risk!

By the way I couldn't figure out how to take this screenshot since Winlogon kicks you out of the session and doesn't let screen-capture software do it's work. What I did to take this screenshot was to enable remote desktop and connect to my machine remotely. As you can see it did the trick, but I have no way of showing you what the "locked" screen looks like. It's basically the same just a little smaller space for the graphic so I made a scaled down version.

Hope you enjoyed, and good luck on your endeavors!

errrrrr.....ever heard of Print Screen? It lets you take a screenshot of the desktop or login screen or whatever....

Decent login screen by the way....good work...:)

Thanks, Siddharth. I tried printscreen, but it doesn't seem to work for me when the workstation is locked or before logging in. If there's a secret key combination I'd like to know because it would make my life a lot easier!
