Hahaha funny ad, much better than the techy intel one :P

#385118

Eh, its ok.

The best part is the crash... rofl!

#385123

The commercial was pretty lame. Also, they should have used the term Windows instead of PC.

As far as I'm concerned, the Mac is also a personal computer (PC).

#385136

all the new ads available through apple's website...

not entirely, yes you can consider it a pc only if your using bootcamp. and not everyone is going to install windows on there macs so technically id still call it a bonified....mac.

okay you got me :)

That would be kind of stupid to say Windows instead of PC because it's comparing a Mac and a PC not OS X and Windows. Plus, with the bootcamp situation, you know the deal.

#385338

this may not be a popular opinion, but I find apples's ads (starting with that "intel chips have been used to doing mundane tasks" ad) to be quite smug. these new ones actually piss me off. i'm kind of turned off to macs a bit, regardless of whether what the ads say are true. any takers?

#385341

that's the typical windows user reaction... all the windows whor*s at my school are like "apple is gay" and "microsoft vista pwnz"... when i say "oh tiger had that last year and vista isn't coming until next year when apple will release leopard which will totally pwn vista" they respond "who cares mac sucks.. they so slow"... i say "umm are you stupid.. macs have intel core duo procs which are speedier than your ****" and they're like "mac sucks"

if you actually have a mac you'll know they aren't over exaggerating...

#385371

Well, obvious, this is basically a Windows-based world. So many people (new-bs) think that Macs suck, without any information to backup their opinions.

No because the whole point of the commercial was that PC was sick, had viruses, and crashes in the end. That's not true, windows is the one with holes all over the place. If you install Windows using boot camp on the Mac, it doesn't just become perfect. It will still be prone to the viruses, and instability it had when it was installed on a PC.

Their comparison fails.

And like I said, all this comes from the misconception that a Mac is not a PC. PC by definition includes Macs and IMB computers.

In the end, its the operating system that determines how secure and safe it is.

I would hardly classify myself as a typical windows user. In addition, I do not like to make sweeping statements-- e.g. sucks, or is gay.

I recognize that macs have their strengths and weaknesses. I recognize that PC have their strengths and weaknesses. I would even readily agree that the mac is "better" than the PC in many regards.

My reaction to the apple campaign and commercials is analogous to your reaction to your VISTA fanboys at your elemenatry/junior/middle/high school. To me, the these apple commercials are blatantly disprespectful to PC users everywhere. It's the campaign equivalent of mudslinging and negative ads such as during an election.

Now, this is business and david is up against goliath so I honestly wouldn't expect any different. I just hate to see apple stoop to such levels. I think I'm just too sensitive. before you rip me apart for being a "typical xp fanboy," I actually want and am still considering buying a mac/mini/mactel or whatever. just found the commercial condescending and hurtful. /end rant

So how did you want the commercial to be like? "Buy OS X rather than use Windows"? Because new-bs are going to think that you can just install OS X on a "non-Mac" (if you prefer that name.) So basically, that would cause more people to illegally install OS X on their "non-Macs". Or how about, "Get a Mac rather than a Gateway, Dell, eMachine, Alienware, HP, etc." that would make it just too long. So basically, the point is to get people to buy a Macintosh computer rather than a "non-Mac."
