Taskbar disappears while my brother on pc

I went to a party for an hour 1/2. Turned the pc off before I left.

I come back, and my stupid brother is on the pc normally on runescape, and usually does something dumb to @#$% up the computer and then lie about it. I look at the computer and the @#$%ing taskbar is gone! I restarted the pc, it's still gone! No, it's not on auto-hide because i hold my cursor where the taskbar is supposed to be or make it pop up, and it doesn't show. I never set the taskbar to auto hide ( It causes WAY too many problems )

Now I don't think this in the right spot, butt i need help. And I'm ticked off at my brother. He lies all the time, he should go to confession atleast once a week.

Might sound silly but are you sure he didn't move the taskbar to another side of the screen? Have you hovered the mouse on all sides to see if it pops out?

I'd also try killing explorer.exe and rerunning it. Also make sure Objectbar (If you use it) isn't loaded without a theme. Sometimes OB will load without a theme and auto-hide the taskbar. Check for it's proccess in task manager.

Check all sides of the screen, and next time, do your self a favor, and lock the taskbar.

#384759

It is locked you idiots. I don't know where the @#$% it is!?!

I don't use objectbar, it sucks.

I asked for someone to help, not call me an idiot. And something else is freaky, a few days ago object dock got swiped, cleared. There was nothingonm the bar. And i restared my computer ther same day ( and the right way, not clicking a button ) and it was cleared again, no icons on it.

Hey! Thanks! The " exit explorer.exe " and restarting it worked! For five seconds! And was completely unoperational! Thanks! That did absoulutly nothing!

Now what?

#384761

Ok, I would advise you to calm down.

If the taskbar was locked, unless it was unlocked, there is no way it could have been moved. When you restart your computer, most applactions save their current settings, so when/if the taskbar was moved, when you restarted Windows saved its location.

Well thanks for the show of appreciation. You sound like the kind of person that deserves what you're going through. If I could find a report button, I'd use it.

Good luck honcho, You're going to need it.

Ok. Everyone just take a little breather. ;)

First, get an attitude ajustment. Second, if we're all idiots then why are you asking for help here?

Since you didn't even attempt a restart yourself then I've got to wonder why you posted here before doing that?

Scan for viruses, adware then do a system restore. I'm not going to offer specific advice to someone who degrades fellow members this way.

And if that doesn't work I suggest you come back here with a better attitude.

Calm down.

Start flaming and I'll start banning :D.

Rez., the report button is in the upper right part of every post, to the rightof the title and time, but to the left of the "Quote and Reply."

Ok, sorry.... I was flamming. Sorry for the idiot thing, but hey, some of you were calling me one too. I'm not stupid. I restarted the computer, exited explorer.exe and then started it again. I looked on all sides of the screen... I don't know what the heck is going on.

As you haven't said the system I'm coming at you from an XP standpoint.

Open task manager (ctrl+alt+del...just once) & take a screen shot with prnt screen. Browse through the process list to see if u notice anything that shouldn't be there.

Also can you get the start menu with the windows key? If that works hover over beside the logoff button then right click properties, taskbar tab to start.

If you brother did pull a prank I'd check the start folder for an unknow exe. This should get you started.

#385163

the thing is, my brother is 7. I am using windows xp. But my taskbar is invisible and doesn't respond when mouse hovers over/clicks etc. But i still get messeges for example " Msn account has not yet been activated" since my account isn't activated.

Dude.. look at this... I was doing what you said, didn't exit a process at all, and my title bar got removed from the task manager.

#385492

I don't know if this will help or not.. but click the WINDOWS sign on your keyboard, between your ctrl and atl.. that will get your taskbar to show

That'd be the Window Key. ;)

Press that then move your mouse overa blank spot on the menu & right click. Select properties.

If you can't get the start menu at all, then there are different things to do.

#385536

well that helped, now it didn't take a scientist to figure that out. Thanks.

Consider this a warning...your attitude could use a little bit of work. Next time will be a ban.
