AveTunes not working with iTunes

Whenever I run AveTunes iTunesDesklet, it loads up correctly, but the display says "iTunes not loaded." If I single-click on the desklet, I am returned with a popup, titled "iTunesWidget" which says "You seem to have the wrong version of iTunes. You will at least need version 4.5 of iTunes. Please check Apple's website for an update." I go into iTunes and go to Help>About and it returns me with the fact that I am in fact running iTunes 6.0.4.2.

What can I do to resolve this?

I've tried reinstalling both AveDesk (1.3) and AveTunes and neither solves the problem.

try re-installing iTunes and see if that does anything..

make sure to backup your library xml file otherwise you'll loose all your ratings!
