AveDesk Installation fails at DDRAW.dll

Hello experts,

can You please help me with this problem:

Installation of AveDesk always failed with following remark:

"Der Prozedureinsprungpunkt "DdEntry10" wurde in der DLL "DDRAW.dll" nicht gefunden."

(rough translation: "procedure-jump-in-point (!?) "DdEntry10" has not been found in DDRAW.dll)

It doesn't matter, whether I install by register.bat or by avedesk.exe itself.

System is WindowsXP home SP1a. I've already re-installed Direct-X 9.

Thanx a lot

Tom

Welcome.

I think this belongs in the main thread? Can you tell me what avedesk version & what version of the dll with date.

Edit: Do the following also

click start>run

type in dxdiag

tell me what version of directx you are running.. it should be directx 9.0c

go to the display tab and test your direct draw

Mylord ;-)

thank you for answering so quickly!

Direct-X is 9.0b only, so I will first of all update it...

AveDesk is 1.3 which is the current version, I guess?

DDRAW.dll is version 5.3.0.900 date 12.12.2002

Sorry, that I've chosen the wrong thread; I'm not very familiar with using forums, and English ist not my native tongue...

no problem.

I think that may be your problem. not sure if 9.0c is the most recent. Get the most recent. Even my old dll's are 2004.

#383910

DirectX is latest 9.0c and I suggest you download latest distribution from Microsoft's website which is February 2006, which contains many bugfixes in 9.0c version.

Edit: I just checked and it's April 2006, I guess MS just released new distribution !!

Follow this link : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

Hello Igo,

thanks for your help and link;

I've now updated Directx to 9.0c using the "directx_apr2006_redist.exe" Ver 6.0.2800.1106

Unfortunately, the error still occurs...

Any other ideas? Anyone? Thank You again!

meanwhile, i've completely re-installed the windows-system and have tried to install avedesk again.

There has been nothing on the computer but the mere Windows; no further drivers or gimmicks or anything else.

The error occurs again!!

Have you tried checking the bugs thread that is stickied to the top of the forum?

I'm doing some searches now.

Edit:

What are your system specs's?

Is this a new clean WindowXP install? I ask because you say not many other software.

I'm wondering if this isn't more specifically a system problem.

#384919

system specs's are

AMD Athlon XP 2000+, MMX, 3DNow, 1600 Mhz

512MB RAM

ATI Sapphire Radeon 9200SE Atlantis 128MB

Yes, it's a new clean WindowXP install.

Meanwhile, I also think it's a system problem; probably concerning the graphic card; although the directx-tests have been ok...

#385333

You probably can pick up an "ddraw.dll" somewhere and place it inside avedesk's folder. Not sure where this is coming from, maybe I'm linking somewhere with ddraw.lib...

#385340

Thanks for caring personally ;-)

but Sh..!! Still doesn't work...

#385504

Then I'm lost; I'll try to do a scan for usages of ddraw.lib in avedesk source code, remove them if found and send you the newest EXE.

Im having this same issue, was there ever a resolution to this?
