Default Location for Desktop Icons

hey, First off i want to say that i love RK launcher. Amazing tool and isnt a resource hog. Hats off to Raduking! It fits so seamlessly well in XP that many of my friends that normally would never customize windows installed it.

I use it as a replacement for Quick Launch and have it placed vertically on the left side of the screen.

Question: I was wondering if theres a way to change the default location of new desktop icons. Since RK is vertical on the left new icons tend to appear under it.

One (slightly unelegant) way that I have found to do this is to create a column of shortcuts in the region where your dock is.

First, I made a transparent .ico file (search the forums if you need advice on how to do this), then created a new shortcut (to anything) and named it with just a space.

You can now create one or more columns of these (need to name each one with different numbers of spaces so that there aren't duplicates)

To get rid of the arrows in the lower left corner of the shortcuts, I used a powertoy called Tweak UI (download it from microsoft.com)

To do this, open Tweak UI > Explorer > Shortcut > Shortcut overlay = None

Again, it's not the prettiest way of doing it, but it's the only way that I've found.

thanks liter o cola. actually i was thinking about that as a solution as well.

ts unfortunate because if you choose to keep your taskbar i think its the best place to have rk launcher.

but thats subject to debate and a personal choice.

Also not too elegant, but try moving your taskbar to the top and keep RK at the bottom. It takes a few minutes to adjust to but you'll never be able to go back! That's what I do...
