Debris left from previous AveDesk versions...?

I'd just like to know where exactly all the information is stored (in the registry or otherwise) for the previous AveDesk versions, so that I can clear it out. I've recently been deleting 1.2 and 1.3 multiple times to switch between them, and even using old desklets that I'd long since deleted, and after each install they seem to remember the layout and icons that the desklets were using (pidlshortcut and Folder and Shortcut, specifically).

I don't think it's that great that this is distributed in a zip file with no way to remove all the information from the registry, so it would be good if Andreas or someone could tell me where all the data is left so I can start 1.3 with a fresh install.

Take a look at C:Documents and SettingscinephileApplication DataAveDesk

Registry info (COM only) can be removed with unregister.bat, other stuff (settings, themes) is located in %APPDATA%/AveDesk .

Edit: no need to read as Ave explained er more eloquantly. :)

registry entries? what registry entries? we don't need no stinking registry entries. :P

Seriously, AveDesk doesn't add that much to the registry & definitely nothing that isn't needed. If you're that concerned run regedit & search for AveDesk. You won't find much.

PS. Install packs are all relative. Unintall doesn't necessarily remove everything.

Thanks for the help. I should have guessed it stored it there. I don't think I've ever got used to Windows XP using Docs to store user settings :|

Well, it'll all be better in Vista anyway.

I have the exact same problem (app remembers user settings although I already deleted it). But I DON'T have a "AveDesk" directory ANYWHERE on my harddrive!?

The problem is: I first extracted the zip file to my desktop (believing it would be some kind of installer) and ran it from there. After I noticed that this is the complete application and not an installer, I closed it, unregistered and moved it to my "Program Files".

There is nothing left in the registry after unregestering and I can't find any settings folder on my harddrive (especially not in "Documents and Settings/MyAccount"). Nevertheless AveDesk keeps remembering my configuration (which e.g. links icons to the long deleted folder on my desktop).

Can you please help me?

Sounds like you have some spooky themes :).

Try:

a) entering %APPDATA%/AveDesk in the run box and hit [enter]. All themes will be stored there.

B) do a search for .avetheme

If none works, call the GhostBusters.
