Cant safe remove an external HD

Hi, i also get a new bug or problem

When i plug an External HD to my comp the desklet that refers to it shows up. But when i safe remove it ( by using the little icon on the taskbar) it tells me that it cant stop the peripherical at the moment and try it later ( sorry for my english,my window is in french, got to translate it) . So I have to close Avedesk to be able to safe remove it.. and i dont want to do that, is there a way to safe remove any peripherical (external HD, mp3 players, etc.) without closing Avedesk?

I can't replicate your problem but this might work...

Try right clicking on the desklet and choosing eject, then try safe removing it.

well, in wxp, you don't HAVE to use the safe eject (you didn't in w2k either, but w2k would give you a big error box like you just pressed the nuclear button!!). safe eject is only to make sure that you don't unplug something in the middle of a transfer. so, if you're sure your external hard drive is done doing what it does, just unplug it.
