TextEdit but better +)

I'd like to find some app to switch from Word.

I want it to be a fast (enough, so OpenOffice&Co didn't match)

Not JAVA-based (they are... not good IMHO)

Works with .rtf files

Cocoa-based - i need good national support (i try AppleWork but i can't type in russian there)

All i need (functions) if to be able to insert tables/images, use styles/lists

It will be good if it will be able to import .doc files but its not blocking wish =)

simply, i need a Word but not Word :D

I know about Mellel... Its one of The Candidate. But its better to choose from many...

Thank you for your help ;)

(now, you have to help) ;)

Apple Pages? I switched to it from Word and I'm loving it!

You talk about Pages from iWork'06 suit? Is it available in demo or so? I can't spend 80+ bucks for iWork simply to test it... Maybe Pages available in separate package?

I'm not sure about the demo. Check at apple.com or macupdate.com. Or go find someone who bought a mac recently - iWork demo is added to every new Apple computer.

And yes it rocks ;)

OK , am on a mac ..

Pages come with newly shipped mac , a demo version.

Pages ( part of iWork05/06 ) is probably the only app that fit your needs.

It's not that expensive and you will love it , i second peter thought. :)

On the side note , i recommend a small text edit app called "Smultron" Free /opensource, with tab working environment. give it a shot and you will love it.

OK Yuki. I'll check for Smultron. I try it about .5 year ago - nice program but didn't work with cp1251 good. Sad but I need it yet.

And where are you? ;) I'm Russian. Moscow city =)

Can we meet to share you iWork demo?
