Pandora

I've downloaded and double-clicked the latest AveScripter beta, and I'm pretty sure it's installed properly (I saw the splash screen--how can I check the version number? The one seen in the "Add Desklets" dialog says 105...)

I press yes and nothing happens.

Now I see the Pandora orange label and then a blank white box that looks to be 642*270, the width of the desklet.

Any idea what's up?

P.S: This worked temporarily at one point not too long ago, but when I tried it again, it stopped...

Works great but only if on desktop. If moved to showcase layer it won't play. No hickups and plays better than in Firefox!

Although mine could be bug free cause of *cough*special*cough* version of AveDesk i'm using

edit: yeah, as soon as i showcased it, it stopped playing, and then wouldn't start again until i closed and reopened.

If your getting an error running this script/page. That is a IE problem, I got it to. Even if I tried running IE alone and going to the site it wouldn't work. I had to uninstall flash and reinstall flash.

I'm also running *cough* special version, but mayber you got a different version of avedesk. Mine seems to work in showcase mode for me. I'll look into it more to see if there is anything that could cause it to stop playing if the window is "hidden".

The active X stuff is still experimental, and only seem to have issues with IE. I'm still very puzzled why it would stop when you move it to showcase. I have mine always in showcase

Mean while I'll upload a Flash version of Pandora in a few mins. This one works better BUT has 1 hick.. Pandora does a request for a webpage to select the song. So between songs you see a flicker.

Really great work pcm, btw can you prevent it from playing on startup? Or is only intended for use to play "Your Stations" when AveDesk is loaded?

Good news / Bad News.

The pandora is not working in showcase on my rebuilt system. Good cause now I can trace and see the why!

Ok.. figured the problem. Its a Internet Browser "Feature"

The problem occurs if you switch the desklet from Desktop Icon to anything and vice versa.

To fix the problem, insert the desket as a normal window.

Either make the default a normal window, or switch it to normal then restart the avedesk. Then when its in normal window you can now set it to showcase and voila.!

The problem falls with internet explorer not liking the idea of changing the desklet's parent window (desktop icon to normal window)

How this is clear.

I wish I could think of a good fix, but this is a bit out of my control. Unless someone has a idea.

I cannot seem to find this when I go to add a desklet. I have the latest version of AveScripter installed (not the beta version though). Do I need to install the latest beta to make this work?

You need the beta for all the new stuff..

Beta will become an official version in a few weeks if no more bugs are reported.

lemme axe you a question, pcm...(not that i doubt you ) i don't have ie set as my default browser (it's ff). does this change anything about how you think about the showcase 'bug'?

I didn't mean the browers is the default. (I use firefox too), but I mean the default desklet settings.

If your talking about Pandora/Desklet itself, it doesn't matter what your default is, it uses IE for the web. I could make another Pandora version that uses Mozilla "FF" to display the webpage. That's defined in the XML Skin file. But to use the Mozilla I need to include another file in it too. Takes a few mins to do one.

I just need to find that Mozilla link again for the Com Interface.

Since Pandora saves the streamed files to your temp folder without the .mp3 extension would there be a way for this desklet to add the extension, rename the files and save them to a new folder?

That way you'd be able to listen to the songs whenever you want.

I'm not sure how feasible it would be to do that, but it's just an idea.

I don't think its a very complex task to do, but for "legal" reasons, I wouldn't recommended.

And I'm actually surprised that it does that. lol

Yeah I forgot about those damned legal issues, nevermind its still easy enough to do it manually.
