Just as a question what's the difference? I've seen some computers at circuit city that have this crystal type look. is that media center?

No, you wouldn't find Vista on a computer at Circuit City. It's probably the Royale look that he's referring to, and yes, that is found on MCE machines.
I have seen some TV Tuners for your PC that come w/ a Microsoft Media Center install for XP. it is only about 20 megs too.

I recall there being a way to get Media Centre to work on some Media Centreless Vista Builds, so there is a way, but you'd most likely have to buy Windows XP Media Centre, and it would most likely not feature all the deep system hooks that a true Media Centre computer would have.
Besides, Media Centre sucks compared to some of the free/opensource Media Centre applications out there.
