What makes you think you can't listen to music if you change it to disc mode?

And what does this have to do with FlyakiteOSX?

Its true, you have to change it to disk mode, im presuming your using a windows machine...

This has to be done REALLY fast, if done correctly it will woirk, i mean it is a pendrive after all, it doesnt really matter.

Good Luck with this,

P.S I had the same problem, it got it solved.. :)

Well, my friend's shuf-ley also got the same problem and this was the only way to solve it. Although i am not sure of the cause, maybe there is something which causes this problem?

In my experience, the "disk read error" is caused by iTunes trying to do operations on the shuffle after it has already "unmounted" it. That is, when you first insert the shuffle, iTunes updates its playcounts, checks to see if it needs to put new songs on the iPod, and if it doesn't, it sorta "unmounts" it. I've been able to fix it by just updating my shuffle playlist before I plug it in, and then my new songs get loaded on as soon as I plug it up.

Please let me know if that doesn't make sense, and I'll try to explain it better. It's after midnight here, and my brain has kinda shut down for the evening.
