New To Mac--should I wait until Leopard?

Well, here is my story:

All throughout my life I have worked on Windows computers. I bought into what other win users were saying and I even laughed at my friend in high school for getting a mac. Then I arrive at college, get my iPod (monthes before the 5G's roll out...ugh!) and I nottice my roommate's macs...needless to say after a while I fell in love and I have become a mac emulator...such a sad life, huh? To only have the outside appearance of a thing but not the heart.

My point? I sincerely plan on raising money over this summer and purchasing a one of Apple's products. I know that I want to wait until Leopard is released because it'll be released with Boot Camp and it'll make a beautiful companion to my hp 'top that I'm writing this on. Any advice to a guy that has finally seen the light?

Also, at the moment Boot Camp only allows one operating system to be installed at once. As far as I'm aware they are wanting to make it so that you can dual-boot, but as it stands you only have a choice of either Mac OS X or Windows XP. If you're planning to get the hardware just to run XP, I'd personally rather not waste the money.

Wrong XalCore... you can have BOTH OSs installed at the same time. You can only boot into one at a time. In other words, your computer can start up Mac by default for all of your work, webbrowsing, etc. If you have a hankering for Half-Life 2, just reboot and hold down the option key, select your Windows partition, and enjoy some fragging action. Once you're done, reboot and load up OS X.

Seeing as you can get BootCamp for free now, I say get a mac asap.

Upgrade to leopard when it arrives.

It may be a small extra cost, but would you rather wait till next year?

Lol, they changed my title, I was mainly asking for general tips for a n006 mac user, but thanks to you guys that have posted...I may just try and aim for the end of summer in order to finally have that beautiful creation: a 20" iMac...I feel warm and fuzzy just thinking about it...

If you wait until the end of summer, you should be fine. I hope the iMacs are RevB by then. Just remember, RevA products tend to have problems. Amazingly, the RevA inteliMacs are perfect. However, the MacBook Pros have serious issues (Apple has made a total of 4 revisions since their release without announcing it). If at all possible, wait for an officially announced RevB, just because you'll have newer goodies inside. If you need a computer now, and you want an iMac, you're also fine as Apple did a good job with them.

I'm so poor I wait until the product is discontinued to buy it . . .

I'm hoping to get an iBook with G4 processor, unless the new Intel iBooks are the same price, dount it, but with how my luck is going . . .
