Dvd-r/rw drive cannot be detected

Hi,

I have a laptop with a dvd-r/rw drive and suddenly it is not being detected by the computer at all. I have gone into BIOS & no sign of it there or anywhere else. Tried going into diagnostic tools & found the following in the error log:-

Monday, April 03, 2006 PlugPlayMa nager The device 'Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-852S' (IDECdRomSlimtype_DVDRW_SOSW- 852S________________PSU2____5 &879c03f&0&0.0.0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.

Can someone please help me get my dvd drive back....

Sounds like a loose connection or a failed drive...

Well, I have gone through a lot of threads and could not find any solution to my problem, hence I signed up. I dont think the drive has failed cos it moves when I put a cd/dvd in it. Not sure if it is a loose connection cos it is an in-built drive, but will check now.
