Search, HD on Desktop and tray..

Hi,

I have a 3 problems that annoy me since I strive for an as close as possible MacOS X clone on my Windows XP..

First problem is:

- In the previews of this application, I noticed the little maginfier-icon that allows you to access search.. Now, I've installed this application and everything works, except for this icon not showing up.. How do I get this to show up, or where do I download this add-on?

Second problem:

- I want both my hard-disks to show up on my desktop.. Ok, seems simple, just create a shortcut.. But no, that's not what I want, I want the HD icons on my desktop to work like they do in "My Computer", so I can see the used/free space by right clicking -> properties.. Shortcutting to the HD in "My Computer" doesn't work.

Last problem:

- Is there any way to have the systemtray fully closed (so you can only see the arrow or "+", but no icons) and only open when I click the arrow or "+"?.. So my upper-right corner would look like this: + 3:28 Q (with the + being the systemtray, 3:28 being the clock and Q being the magnifier..

Thanks in advance,

Bolteh

That icon depends on the skin you use.

Use Avedesk for that.

There's no way that i know of.

I'm sorry, but this was just begging for [*QUOTE*] tags :P. I couldn't resist! -nightcrawler

search around here for any tiger theme, notably kol's. they almost all have the spotlight icon. good luck!

Problem 3: Right-Click the Taskbar and select 'Properties'. From there, first make sure 'Hide inactive icons' is ticked. Now click the 'Customize...' button and change all the behavior to 'Always Hide' for each item.

Click 'OK' when finished and then 'Apply'. Finally, press 'OK' and you're done. All the system icons should be gone with just the + showing.

And about the spotlight.. I have all the tiger themes that -should- have the icon there, but non of them actually shows it..

But I think I found out what the cause is.. When browsing through Tiger System preferences, I saw that spotlight thing, I double clicked it and it gave me an error about google, and that's about it.. Could it be because of this that the icon isn't showing?

@Bolteh: it's more likely that you don't have google desktop search installed.

#376853

Well, might just be because of my google-fobia -_- I absolutely hate googlebars in my browsers, and all those other addons google has.. So I don't really trust something called "google desktop search" :x Is it safe enough?

#376854

Depends what you mean by "safe"?? What are you afraid it's going to do?

Basicly slow down the computer by sending data back and forth over the internet (Spyware)

Anyway, everything worked fine so far.. But I installed the newest version of FlyakiteOSX, and now the apple boot-screen is gone -_- it uses the default windows XP (I'm 100% sure it's installed)

Ok, I'm using MacSearch now (works like a charm.. Only problem is that the icon doesn't appear at the right side of the clock, but on the left.. In the systemtray :(

What's weird however, is that when I click the icon in the systemtray, the MacSearch thing pops up and the icon appears on the right side of the clock (with the original icon still in the tray.. See screenshot attached).. I tried re-applying the Tiger-skin by KoL, but didn't change anything.. Anyone know how this can be fixed?
