I apoligize if I'm posting this in the wrong section.
I see this retro style all the time, and I've attempted to design something like it with no success. So here I come to ask you Aqua-Softians to give me an idea on how this style is done/made/designed/created.

that rainbow seems to be a vector shape with a pattern filled into it.
None of that looks too difficult. The rainbow thing would be some clever marquee (or shape) work with a little effort in a pattern overlay. A bit of distress to the overall background possibly some edge burning, maybe not. Some layer masking... A few text layers, some generic blending options. Voila!

ok first off - this is an illustrator job. Then its been imported into PS and effects have been applied
Maybe so, but illustrator isn't needed at all to reproduce any of the effects in that image.
Of course, now that I think about it, the same could be said for any picture. haha

just saying it would be much easier to do in Illustrator seeing as thats a vector image! PS is useless for all that....
OOooh, are you the expert now, I mean it's not like you do it for a living or anything....jeez!
actually I think he does, he is a graphic artist, he said so himself in some thread
