Aqua-Soft Forumshey, i was wondering if there was a way to fix my dvdrom drive after i tried to update the firmware and failed. the computer doesn't ever recognize it anymore....nooooo.....lol

Hmm, there's no logical connection between updating the firmware and the computer not recognizing it--the computer uses drivers to run the device, and the device uses firmware to run itself. You sure you're talking about firmware, not drivers?

The only thing I can think of is that you can try to run your firmware-flash-tool again.

Incorrect sir... the Firmware tells the computer what kind of device it is.
If the firmware is toast, your computer will not know what kind of device it is.
Therefor it will not know what driver to load.
As for reflashing... once the firmware is toast, you are going to be hard pressed to get it reflashed.
Software based flashing requires that the host OS can already detect the device.
If the device cannot be detected, you will have to go with something a bit more dedicated.. and expensive.
If it's under warranty and you were using a factory supplied firmware and flash tool, send it back.
If it's not under warranty and the firmware failed to load properly (died mid burn) and/or was not intended for the device in question, toss it in the trash and buy a new one.

Just helpin' a brotha out. 
actually, i fixed it with the help of a friend of mine. what you need to do is find a binary firmware update for the drive and use MTK WinFlash untility.
