give the guy a break! There's a reason that 95% of the world is still on microsoft - compatability. So why not have the best of both worlds? and NO ONE on this site can argue with emulating osx.

I see where you're coming from. I can see the benefits. But I have to agree with most other people in this thread: what's the point? You could buy a notebook Windows computer and install FlyaKite on there. I just don't see the point of it. That'd be like deciding against purchasing a Lamborghini, going to a Ferrari dealership, buying a Ferrari and making it look like the Lambo. Yeah, you could, but what's the point? I know that the vast majority of the world runs on Windows, so why bother with hacking your MacBook to run it when you could buy it preinstalled on a *perfectly* good PC from the start? I just don't get it.

EDIT: I re-read your blog entry a few times, and I kind of understand where you're coming from. It's fast. But you could order this Alienware notebook for less than the MacBook. I'm not saying that PCs are better than Macs (because, in my experience and opinion, they're not), but I just don't get why you bothered.

oh wow. i'm speechless. I dont know if i should be shocked or disgusted. but i am definitely not impressed. i mean, emulating the mac os on a mac computer is probably the best thing you can do for your mac.

To those who ask WHY-

Because there's a lot of windows programs that are too slow to run under virtual pc emulation, it is for that reason that people like to install windows and 'dual boot'...

Why anyone would completely ditch OSX, format a macbook and run windows only is beyond my understanding...if you want to do that just go out and buy a windows machine and save money.

BUT running both OSX and WIndows on macbook is the best of both worlds on one greatly designed laptop... and running flyakite in windows just makes it feel more 'like Home' when you go to run windows applications.

It's actually funny because if you read his blog, he was a linux user for the past 3 years. He just ordered a macbook pro lately so there is really no telling if he already feels at home. When i made the switch, it took me a while to truly feel at home (i define it as knowing where things are and how things operate).

Initially had some problems with the installer when it came to the iTunes skin, the installer just hung, I could hear stuff being slowly written to the hard drive. After waiting for about fifteen minutes and being unable to force quit I tapped the power button (did not hold it down). For some reason this sped everything up and the install completed. Also I had to uninstall/reinstall the taskbar 'move to top' tweak as some previous preferences conflicted with the install.

Anyhow here's the low-down - this is the best development computer out there right now. With the ability to run both Mac and XP apps it is a no brainer. Run Final Cut, Logic Audio on the Mac, then switch to XP to run Studio Max or Adobe apps (currently not optimized for the Mac Intel side of things). As a bonus I can play GTA: San Andreas, Red Orchestra or Half-Life 2 for fun...

The Mac side can see my FAT partition so swapping files is easy... alternatively you could use external storage.

Anyhow, over the last while I've been using XP a lot on my Mac... it is very stable, and if I have a problem it won't affect the Mac side of things. Which means I can dynamically partition from the Mac side and reinstall Windows... simple.

Thanks to Flyakite I feel a bit more comfortable in the Windows side of things... nice improvement. Plenty of hard work must have went into this... I can see many Mac Intel users being very interested in this fine software.

Okay, most of the people like Mac....We use PC just because it is cheap. So I will buy a Mac if I can. Then, what if I got a window only compatible software in hand? I need Windows! but I like the "feel" or design of OSX / Mac....so I use FlyOSX~!

That is one of the reason~!
