Bug? Continuous registry activity: wdmaud.drv

The other day, ever so curious, I opened up Sysinternals' Registry Monitor (here) to check that my recently re-installed Windoze was working okay. I did quickly find something weird, tho. Regmon reports AVEDESK.EXE to repeatedly, about once every 0.5 seconds, query this key:

HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWave Mapperwdmaud.drv

Neither the key queried nor it's root, "Wave Mapper", exist in my - or so I hope - quite clean incarnation of Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2 installed, and manually creating both keys results in an additional query being sent, namely a query to read the value "Mappable" within wdmaud.drv. Finally, manually creating that value (with a DWORD value of 0x0) resulted in both queries succeeding, but AVEDESK neither altered it's behaviour nor stopped the queries.

What desklets do you have running? And don't forget there's a bug report thread around here.

AveDesk does not query reg keys itself, maybe one of the installed and running desklets does?

What desklets do you have running?

Scripter doesn't do any registry either. Except for "registering" the script engine if it is unregistered. And that's a new feature that hasn't been released yet.
