Apparently the new Powerbook to be announced on Monday will be the the new 15" with Panther and new faster cpu, as well as sporting the ATI 9600 Pro video card in it.
It just doesnt get any better than this.

i'm gonna have to say "i dont think so" :goku's job:
i dont believe apple will be putting the 970's into the powerbooks until later this year (and that is IF they do). apple will be putting them into the powermacs this week (well, they are already in them, but they will be on sale....you know what i mean)
yea, where did you hear this? just wondering...
Macnews:
"Next week's WWDC should be one of the most exciting events this year for Mac users. Apple has already promised a preview of the next major update to OS X, Panther, which is in itself quite exciting. More attention has been paid to two as-yet-unannounced products though, the Power Mac G5 and the new 15" Powerbook. A reliable source has provided us with evidence that the new 15" Powerbook will be announced at next week's WWDC, and should be available for order immediately. The new Powerbook will feature a slightly larger display (15.4"), Airport Extreme, Bluetooth, and a light-sensitive keyboard similar to the one found on the 17" Powerbook. The shipping documents we have show a new part number for the superdrive, which seems to indicate that the new 15" Powerbook will be able to write DVDs at 2x. The new Powerbook will also sport a new aluminum enclosure (similar to the 12" and 17" Powerbooks), and the same drop-down hinge found on all other Apple portables. We have seen reports that these new Powerbooks have already been shipped to many retail locations, bearing stickers warning against opening the crates before Monday the 23rd. More news on the Power Mac G5 will follow soon."
Same stuff as the 17" powerbok, plus no g5 so I still think the 17" is better, this new one is just an update of the old g4. ![]()
Powermacs will have the g5 first, and then the powerbooks will get them early-mid next year.
I can always exchange my powerbook, but I don't know if I want to compromise a bigger screen for a faster superdrive.
Advice....
lets just say, the 15" has been said to be in full production all this time, to give a big kick to the WWDC announcements.
We will all know 100% here by Monday. Until then its rumor. I also heard that the new 15's have the new CPU as well. But, we will all know for sure here on Monday. I myself am waiting to see how good this source is that I heard it from.
Hopefully if it is all true, this should be the best laptop they have released to date. The 17 was great, but a little too large for my taste though, so if the 15 has everything the 17 has, then the 15" for me will be perfect as this in the size that suits my taste best.
If the 15 doesnt deliver what I heard it will bring, then I guess I will have to order another 17" one.
Well I get my new eMac tomorrow (the 24th) and frankly I don't give a hoot about this G5 stuff. The PowerMacs will be so f***ing expensive.
damn, there wa sno news on the powerbooks update!?
