So I'm getting a Mac soon, laptop variety (for school) I'm in Digital Arts and Design (Basically Graphics Media) and I need a laptop that can handle photoshop and my illustration works.
What would you recommend?

MacBook Pro would be good. It is one of the new Intel Macs.
Absolutely... It seem to really have Performance boost. Besides the specs are cool on these machines (last I checked it sports ATi x1600 with 128 & 256 GDDR3 mem respectively) and both varient in MacBook Pro's have SATA drives... and if you want more you get to upgrade to 2.16 GHz processor as well.
I'd say it would fit the need perfectly !!
yes but keep in mind that until photoshop goes universal it will be slower than on a powerbook g4.
hmm... a valid point Bz !!! I think I'll push bying new MacBook Pro bit later, probably till CS3... I guess till then gotta live with my iBook.
It seems like you want a mobile workstation then go for a MacPro book or wait for the 17"inch model but if you need it now Macpro book is a good choice. As for myself i'm steal debating over which new mac I want, the new Intel iMac, MacPro Book or the intel PowerMac when it comes out later this year. My advice take your time and look into it more before you make your final decision.
i'm with you guys, the macbook pro is probably the smartest choice because it will only get faster in terms of software... and once the community over at the osx86 project perfects the dual boot solution you can run the windows apps you can't live without... like umm....windowblinds? lol
make sure you get the educational discount, and look into whether or not you can right it off on your taxes ( a friend bought a powerbook and got 500 dollars back)
Thanks for the advice everyone
