Can I make desktop not overlap dock?

I was curious if I can make the applications or dock not overlap each other. Such as make the desktop work space smaller so that it lines up with the dock rather then either sitting on top of each other. God, hope that makes sense LOL.

Thanks!

Impossible to do. But if it makes you feel better, alter your wallpaper in make a black space on the bottom for your dock. ;)

I think i might know what you mean. You can use finderbar engine to create a space for your dock. To do this.. read it on his site.

There's many more that can do this too - Hawkeye comes to mind immediately. I'll also be including this feature in my Menubar replacement program which is close to reaching beta testing soon.

Thanks all for the fast input. That was really flipping fast haha.

So do you guys use docks? If so are you just having it autohide? What are you guys doing with them personally if you dont mind me asking.

(this flyakite is fun btw, been enjoying it so far hehe)

This doesn't belong in FOSX forum.

I think you mean an app that keeps windows from overlaping the dock.

I HAD an app like that, however, it was wroght with bugs. I think it was called

"Desktop resizer," or something to that effect.

And by the way, I use RKLauncher.

Oh, here it is:

Aye. But for example, if I use a shell replacement (and I know flyakite is not a shell replacement, just a slick style and some mods) I could actually set up the actual desktop workspace area.

Oh and I use RK Launcher as well. I love it.

I could still put the rklauncher into the area that is not workspace, but other apps would only maximize to the workspace size i set. So I was able to prevent it that way. So with flyakite im back in the explorer shell, which means I have to find a new way to set that workspace area heh.

Im at work now so I will check out the link you added. Then "edit". From the looks of it, its what I need, but your comment on bugs brings me to wonder if i want to attempt it lol.

Anyhow, thanks for your input as well.

Well I checked the link, it works, but the next one don't. The guy has moved his site.

Sorry to bump this but, found another program to add that might be of use.

Desktop Coral by DonationCoder

I've used/use a number of their mini-apps without a problem.

Just been testing it out. Little heavier on resources than I like coming in around 8.5mb ram but, does what it says.

Just a heads up it essentially changes your screen size. DIdn't affect AveDesk but, moved a few DX objects out of whack for me.
