Favorite Punk Rock Group!

1. This post is nor political or religous!

OK mines NOFX!

I wouldn't classify The White Stripes as punk. "Fell in Love with a Girl" is probably the closest to punk they will get. IMO, they are more like late 60's rock.

But I still voted for them :)

White Stripes drummer is pretty shocking. Shockingly poor. I think their OK but nothing amazingly new or great.

I voted for blink-182, cos their the first band i got into and still my favorite. If only because they make me laugh so much.

#34367

I like Blink 182 cuz they have good music w/ a great sence of humor!

BTW - I've Downloaded 3 Music Videos by them and have 1 or 2 DLing now!

First off, Meg White is an excellent drummer. Just because she doesn't play 200,000 bpm like Blink doesn't mean she sucks. Better than the constant 'doom-cha-doom-cha-doom-cha' beat that punk rock has driven into the ground.

Anyways, of course the White Stripes are nothing new and amazing- they aren't supposed to be. They are only interested in recording roots rock, the stuff that classic rock is known for. For god-sakes, they don't even use recording equiptment made after 1963.

And it is, for this reason, that Meg White does not go crazy on the drums- their music doesn't require her to.

OK, let me just say that Punk Rock is not just Punk rock, you have to like it! You can't just like a couple of songs and say your the bands biggest fan...

Plus you can't just go ramming other people's bands! Ok, I'm not the White Stripes biggest fan I've heard lots of their songs, Meg White's drumming was definatly good enough or better than waht was needed of her. She may not be what Travis Barker is to blink 182, but for what it is she is good enough for the White Stripes (That's and analogy!).

If you think that one of these bands suck then keep it to yourslelf cuz all anyones gunna think is "f*** that guy, I like the White Stripes (or whatever)"

Let me borrow a phrase from a girl I know

"Whatever works"

"it's all good"

I guess both of them apply!

what is the thing exactly about punk rock that appeals to you?

I agree, and I'm sorry if it sounded like I was ripping on other bands, cuz I wasn't. I'm a fan of some of Blink's stuff (though not all); all I was trying to say was exactly what you said, ihart- some people's style's are appropriate for what they do. Travis drums the way he does because Blink's music needs that kind of drumming, same thing for Meg White. That's all I was trying to say (you just put it in better words ;)) No hard feelings to you or alilm.

@taha- What makes anyone like any music?

#34448

Sometimes its the message. Sometimes its the tune. Sometimes its the voice of the singer. Sometimes its because its 'popular'. Sometimes its combinations of the above-mentioned..

I just wanted to hear your views.. -_-

#34450

where`s rancid

o well, NOFX kick ass too :D

what i like about punk is the fast guitars and the bass i like the text too

#34500

IMO, NOFX is the best punk band ever. I miss Bad Religion and Lagwagon too...

BTW, the best punk rock song ever is "Punk rock song" of Bad Religion ;)

#34515

What are you all talking about?? for me all of those bands are not punk-rock (except NOFX), it's punk-pop or teen-punk. The real punk-rock it's dangerous, fast, dirty, those bands are a fake (no offense).

The best punk-rock bands are:

The Sex-Pistols

The Ramones (I can't believe how anyone mentioned as they were the first punk band)

Iggy and The Stooges

Some good recent punk-rock bands:

Guns N'Roses (who can say 'Appetite for Destruction' was not real punk :rule:)

Nashville Pussy

Turbonegro

Supersuckers

Backyard Babies

I recommend you all to go back in time and check classic punk-rock albums/bands

@elpincho: I remember all that bands :canadian:

[EDIT]

LONG LIVE TURBONEGRO!!

I didn't see your post magbi... you rule!!!
