Free icon-managing program for XP SP2

I've been using iPhile and Candy XP to replace my icons, but it doesn't exactly work.

The problem for me is when I open a folder using the start menu (like My Documents, etc.) Explorer goes back to the default windows icons.

If i acess it from the desktop the icons are the ones I replaced.

So any ideas or programs? I already tried serching for "Program to replace icons" and only got 3 pages.

I would rather not mess around with my shell32.dll though.

I know exactly what you're referring to, because it happens to annoy me as well. I'm not aware of any free programs that do what you want to do. The best suggestion I have is to change the icons in system files like shell32.dll etc.

Icon tweaker works good,

And its plugins are just xml so its easy to add on.

Agree with vkeios. Have been using icontweaker since it first came out. No problems...yet.

I know it is the best, its just.. $20 for something that works Pre-SP1? And who knows what I will get in the coming years. Doesn't sit well with me.
