Shell Replacements

Okay, I've heard so much about Shell Replacements such as Aston and Litestep, but I keep asking myself "Is this right for me?" I love DesktopX and all its cool features, but its just a memory hog. I love to have that level of customiblity for my desktop. I believe that your desktop "speaks" about you, because something drove you to make it that way, right?

So, I'm asking, what Shell Replacment provides the functionailty of DesktopX and all its widgets, is easily customizible, isnt a memory hog, and best of all, dosent make you think "Linux", any Windows or Mac user that has experimented with Linux, and has switched back will know what I mean . . .

Also, if you dont mind, could you reccomend some themes I could work with to get me used to them?

NOTE: Don't reccomed a replacment if any of these programs dont work or dont behave with it:

name = Notepad

name = VLC media player

name = LimeWire PRO 4.10.9

name = Alcohol 120%

name = Trillian

name = Adobe Illustrator CS2

name = Adobe Photoshop CS2

name = QuickTime Player

name = Macromedia Dreamweaver 8

name = Videora iPod Converter

name = TVTAD

name = iTunes

name = Flock

name = RKLauncher

Excuse the "name =" tags, I just pulled this from RKLaunchers config . . .

Well first, we would need to get some answers, because that is what people will look for, not the rantings of answer-crazed idiots, present company excluded . . .

But really, Shell Replacements can massivelt help someone in their feild of work by utilizing tools that are easily availible right from your desktop.

Ive heard of AeroShell, tho Ive never tried it. You might try searching for that. I dont know how much of a memory hog it is, but it does have a lot of widget like features.

jup enlightenment was available on windows 2000, but only one version ever came out. Windowmaker was actually win98 and not that productive, pretty much just a pre dock program.
