For the my computer icon, just go to display properties and do the same thing you did to replace the "network places icon".

For the jpg, png etc icons go to Folder Options>>File Types and type one or two letters to get to what you need. For example type "jp", to get to jpg. Once the jpg fyle type is selected, click "advanced" and once a new window popups(called Edit File Type) click "change icon"

Just modify wmplayer.exe like normal; and also put your replaced copy inC:WindowsSystem32dllcache &C:WindowsServicePackFilesi386. Then rebuild your icon cache and restart. That should work.

Completly different but very good, I use TuneUp Utilities (2k6) wich can change the icons of the system very easily.
