Can Someone Please Fix The Pngs!?

The png's were good for a short while, then they got messed again. The background should be transparent and instead it is teal or something. Thanks.

Are you using an ie based browser?

#34241

Yep IE doesnt support transparency. Use Mozilla or Firebird! :chair:

:( yes we did have a hack for pngs to work in IE but people complained about not being able to save images, which is the downside :( so just use phoenix or :( switch to a gif

Wow. Ok. I had no idea ie did not support transparent pngs. Well, I should think it does, because you guys had that crack on which made it look like ie did support pngs. Well, I guess I will have to use Safari when I get my iMac.

EDIT:

Its funny, the ie for Mac displays transparent pngs just fine. ;) But, windows, its native os is sh##tier and does not.

What do you expect from a browser thats 2 years old? IE is behind the times, and the worst part, IE6 will be the last version until longhorn, 2 years away. lol, THATS going to kill MS's hold on the internet.

i also heard microsoft is pulling their IE for mac, they arent gonna make it anymore. some reasons were (and i dont remember the exact wording) because apple has a good browser (Safari), and microsoft wants to focus on "mac user's needs of office apps" (meaning, work on apps that they usually get paid for)

@Jmitch

I think that in this topic:

http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/index.php?s...?showtopic=3722

some explained about IE not being able to display png's correctly.

IE for mac does display PNG's correctly, and I think there is a fix for windows internet explorer, but it needs to be added to the code of the page and uses directx I think, so it involves modifying th page code to display that. I dont use IE anymore, just to display sites that Firebird is unable.
