font managing apps

ive been tying to find a font managing program for a while now.

ive found two that ive used.

one was the adobe type manager(ATM)

the other on was called font tools by fonthit http://software.fonthit.com/

both software work for enbling/disabling fonts on the fly.

but the problem is that atm doesn't really show a preview and to show a preview it takes a while having to right click and it generates a preview. but the program its self doesn't chew up much mem and doesn't need to be running when the fonts are enabled

font hit on the other hand does show the font prevew in the list (similar to what M$ Word does and photoshop CS) but the problem is it chews up cpu and ram when its running.

so now im wondering is there any apps that combine both of these? some thing that wont eat your mem/cpu and show previews. but of course has to let to turn on and off fonts on the fly. and being able to set collections up is a plus.

it took my forever just trying to find font tools by fonthit.

FontNav 5, used to be by BitStream I think Corel pwns it now. "It really kicks the llama's ass" because it can display TTF, OTF, Type1 and fonts that are not installed

Well Ive been trying all these font programs out.

the one i like the most so far is the font thing

The one thing i notcied about a lot of the font managing programs is it basicly requires to have that font manager running the whole time you want the font active.

The one thing about atm and font hit tools i liked was the collection thing. making a collection of fonts. This is pretty useful when more then one person is using the comp and they have a set of fonts that they like to use in certain apps.

the downfall of atm is the lack of a preview pane.

ive been finding a few more font managing apps which ive been trying out.. but as i said a lot of them require you to have the program running while the font set is enabled.
